I wasn't able to get Encore CS5 to launch via the Premiere Trial. It stated that this program was not available during a trial period.

The version of Encore CS5 that I used was at my wife's college campus. In doing a bit of research it appears that it may have just been the trials with possibly Encore CS4 opened up with a CS5 splash screen. Her school is supposed to get the official version for student purchase any time now and we'll buy it and I'll give it a try, somehow I'm not expected it to handle M2TS files with HD audio without transcoding.

With that said, even though Scenarist will likely take 10 times longer to author the capabilities are endless and I'm probably going to use that regardless if the final EncoreCS5 will complete the job or not.

I've made a few adjustments, with a few recommendations, to the menu. I also finally took a decent picture of my theater. Even though I have a nice DSLR camera, I'm not fortunate enough to have a wide-angle lens, therefor it's difficult to get a great shot. I like to use images looking towards the rear of the room because the viewers of the disc will see the front of the room as they look at the screen anyway. Maybe that's the engineering logic flopping around in my head or perhaps it's spin because I'm not happy enough with any of my front of the room shots yet.



Just for demonstration sake I added a Dolby TrueHD icon to this shot below even though Transformers2 doesn't feature that track. I simply wanted to show the look of that icon without having to redo to many aspects of the sample image.

I'm trying to give examples so that I can get some sort of consensus on which background to use for the public disc. My copy will probably have my theater, but obviously the public doesn't want my nice (but average 'round these these parts) theater as the background.

I'm open to any submissions of personal theaters, any shots of a commercial theater and any other visual background images that someone would think is nice.

At one point I'll let the community decide which background will become the public disc.

Not all of the content is ready, but I have about 15 gigs of clips already trimmed and ready.

With that said I'd imagine that it's probably going to be another 6 weeks before I can collect ALL of the clips, author and debug the disc.

It will be quicker if someone would like to send some clips my way. I dont have every movie in my collection, therefor Im limited to Netflix!!

The good news is that I have about 15gigs trimmed and ready at this point, but I have another 7 or so full BD discs that Im going to collect clips from on my harddrive, which means that we are likely looking at about 25 gigs collected at this point.

If I had the ability to rip scenes for you I would...I'd love to help this project along, but I don't have the right hardware

I'm really excited about this demo disc 'cause this one actually looks like it's going somewhere, and relatively soon

BTW, what movies do you still need to get clips from?

An average 4 minute clip shouldn't exceed 1gig in size, I would think they could be sent via Mediafire or other online sites such as that.

An update:

Since the boards have had a few HD-Demo Disk updates with one person completing a simple disc, I thought I'd update my status.

I'm behind schedule, but I'm continuing to work. No one has sent me any clips, but I've continued to forge ahead. It's a very timely process just to collect the clips, because you not only have to trim the files but you have to determine what clips to simply collect.

I'm pushing about 30gigs worth of clips, with recent additions such as Gamer, Pearl Habor, Book of Eli, Alice and Wonderland and a few others. I have a detailed clip listing that I will post.

I'm no longer targeting a certain disk size, but rather am wanting to grab at least a clip from nearly every movie in the top reference tier of each the Blu-ray Picture Quality thread and Blu-ray Audio quality thread. I have probably about 15-20 more movies to trudge through, plus any reference material that comes out between then and I will move into the authoring phase.

The authoring phase shouldn't take long as I've already laid out the foundation, just have to finish the clip-links. All of this with a near 2-month old newborn at home.

New ETA: 2 months till final completion.

Still chugging along. I'm at about 30gigs worth of content, but I still have a few more key-movies I want to get featured on the disc. It's a daunting and time consuming task, especially since I'm relying on Netflix to supply the discs, getting one every other business day is slow.

It's more work on the front-end, but I think it'll pay off because consumers of the disc will likely find content that works best for their system, displaying their system's biggest qualities. I'm throwing a bunch of clips on the wall, and everyone gets to decide what sticks, it's inefficient logistically but the end results should be good.

In looking at my Netflix queue, I have perhaps 10 more movies that I want to strip clips from. Then I'll move on to authoring. I do still hope to have authoring complete sometime in August. However, I haven't had time to think of a strategy for testing this beyond using my own equipment, which is an original fat-model PS3. I want to at least ensure some reliability before it's distributed. I guess one could also make a trip to Best-Buy with the disc in hand and throw it in a bunch of different players. Testing-procedure confirmed.

OK, so clip collection is FINALLY complete! That was a long, slow and tedious process. I've collected each clip myself, by ripping the disc then trimming each clip. Now you guys know what has taken so long. The result is 47.5gigs of 1080 DTSHD/TrueHD (Some LPCM) glory.

Attached is an excel file and PDF of the clip listing, which includes the clip, description, video info, audio info, time stamp, file size and the category that I might place it in.

I've also attached a Jpeg of the image to this post.
