Samsung LN55C650 no picture right out of the box

I was shocked and so disappointed that on a brand new Samsung LN55C650 from Amazon there's NO picture at all. When I turn on the TV all I get is little chime/starting sound and that's it. Display stays totally black/blank. At first I couldn't believe it. Restarting TV with cable / without cable / turning it on/off using touch buttons on the TV / using power, menu or any other button on the remote does not make any difference.

Amazon customer service is great and they are replacing the TV but I'm wondering did anyone have similar issues with Samsung or any other LCD TV?

If it doesn't work out of the box, something happened during the shipping process either to Amazon or to you. It's very uncommon that a tv just doesn't come on as they are tested at the assembly plant.

Don't worry that you'll get another broken set.

thanks. Though this is my 3rd Samsung TV after LN52B750 and UN55B8000 i was little shaken.

That's one reason some don't buy from online. Not that retailer isn't good but because the shipping usually sucks from UPS or whoever is doing the shipping. I've seen trucks have tvs just piled ontop of one another, they just think nothing will ever happen cause they are boxed. Nothing is handled with care these days. That's why if you do shop online always best to go with a trusted place like amazon,newegg or tigerdirect. They are all pretty good at doing returns on damaged product.

This is my main reason I do not purchase from 3rd party online retailers.

I have bought from Amazon.com they are great but NEVER from a 3rd party, through Amazon.

Yea i hate that crap. Online sites say they have a product but then you have to go to another site to actually buy it.

Considering he was dealing with an Amazon rep, it's apparent that he DID NOT buy from a third party through Amazon, but with Amazon directly. I buy nearly everything through Amazon and have NEVER had a problem.

Wow, I had the same experience with a Samsung UN46B8500 that I got delivered from Amazon yesterday. Sending it back and getting another one, as well.
