Sony PS3 Owners - 3D BD playback coming "later this year"

It has been assumed by many that the Sony PS3 3D BD capabilities would launch in summer in conjunction with their 3D TVs, but Sony now says 3D gaming will launch this summer but 3D movie playback will not happen until later in the year:

(I know there is another thread about the PS3 but it is more about the technical details of how it will work, and this is specifically about the launch date of the functionality - mods feel free to merge if you want it all in one thread)

And the reason for this is?

The 3-D blu-ray update is MUCH easier to implement than the 3-D game update so why is it being released later? Perhaps it is tied to a PSN upgrade called Bravia Internet Video to be released for all products (BLu-Ray, TV, Dash and PS3?)

What makes you think that decoding the very complex MVC 2D+Delta Blu-ray 3D format into separate left and right eye 1080p data streams and then putting them into a packed 3D buffe is MUCH easier then takiing separate streams created by the writer of game and putting them into a packed 3D buffer?
