Also, as you can see - all of the equipment with exception of PS3 would be hidden behind the front door on the Left - what is the best way to get it remotely controlled - IR repeater? Given the money isn't a real issue, but the room is huge with cathedral ceilings and the rear speakers up on the back wall at around 17 feet - what speakers can I get (towers not an option). I just don't think I can get good quality sound anyway and was thinking about Polk CS2 for a center and Monitors 40 for the sides - on the drywall between the windows and the center?
Well, here's my take: Yes, you can try your center speaker above the TV, but you would have to direct the speaker down towards your listening view, depending on my electric screen I'm going with, and depending on where the bottom of the screen ends up will determine if I'm going to have my center channel just below the screen on a stand, or behind my AT screen I'm considering. I usually listen to regular tv with 2 channel, and I only use my center channel for watching movies.
With your equipment behind the wall, you can get IR repeaters from Amazon, or other online vendors, you have to search for them, my AV rack is right next to my sitting area so I will not need this, the seymour AT screen I'm looking at will have a remote to activate the screen to retract / raise up, and they have wireless options, I'm buying the Panasonic AE4000U projector, and looking like a Seymour AT screen ( hopefully 135" wide or wider )
Speakers: Well, you will have to just see what fit's in your space, and go with your gut instincts and go with it, there's the " I'm just doing what I'm doing " type of set-up, which is what I'm doing, I'm using 4 klipsch RF-7's, two front & rear klipsch surround efffects, and I have an older "special ordered" Klipsch center channel that has dual 8" drivers, so I have not invested in newer speakers, as I would have probably gone another route, as I will be with my next home, for a Major, Major dedicated theater room, I will be reading up on all the different brands, the Polks you mention sound fine to me, but I don't know much about anything other than the Klipsch models I have, you can read up through many of the theater builds and see what people are using for their theater set-ups, many are even building their own, and showing how easy it is ( with some serious help though )
Look at the beginning of this thread, you will see how my main level living room is set-up, and the room is 18 feet wide by 27 feet deep, and my cathedral ceilings ( also known as vaulted ceilings ) work just fine.....
Also, make sure your fireplace has a strong blower, blowing straight out, directed downward towards the floor, ( as mine does this perfectly! )
I guess all I can say is, go with your gut instinct on what you feel is right, there are too many people here that will try to convince you to do something else, it all depends on how serious you want to get...
let me know I will gladly help out in any way I can...
