Multiple HDMI Switching Help

My church is building a new youth building which will have multiple HD sources and display devices. We'd like to have the ability to choose between multiple different sources on each display. See the PDF below of a sketch I drew up. Will this work? Any comments or suggestions are welcome!

Well, you're essentially building an 8x8 HDMI-over-Cat5 matrix switch out of a bunch of parts... You might be happier with a product built to do that. It would very likely be more money than the collection of parts, but probably a whole lot more reliable..

How will the sources be selected? If you're planning on remote control, I don't believe the Monoprice switchers have multiple IR codes - but they do have RS232 control.

I am planning on having the "switcher rack" back near the sound board. So the display selections would be made manually. I don't know that we want to spend several thousand on a 8X8 matrix. I just did some searching and one can be had for around $2000, which isn't much more than all of the Monoprice parts would be.

Honestly, you may want to look into doing a real control system for this. Then, you can add control of lighting, drapes, etc. It'll be expensive, but it really should be included in the capital building fund, and the lighting controls should go into the electrical budget, not the A/V budget. Convincing other of that, however, may be difficult.

Having that many sources and displays and trying to manage it manually can be a bit of a handful. If you're trying to do it all on the fly during a service ..... have fun.

And a Matrix switcher is what you want - it'll be a lot cleaner that 8 splitters and 8 switches. Imagine trying to do a 64x64 switcher without using a matrix.....

I wasn't really sure what I was looking for before. I need to do a little more research on these matrix switchers. There won't really be any "on the fly" switching. There will be a couple TVs in the lobby showing announcements and stuff, a couple TVs in the game room for cable TV or other things, and then the projectors in the main room. Once an event starts the projectors will be controlled from the computers and won't be changed. I did find one that was around $2000 but after reading into it you can't have the same HDCP source on 2 displays at the same time. Any suggestions on a fairly cheap matrix switcher that will allow multiple displays of a single HDCP source? Mainly for putting a cable TV source on multiple TVs at the same time.

Honestly, the only "good" HDMI matrix switcher that I know of is Crestron's Digital Media products. The problem with these is not only is the switch way out of your budget, you also have to have a crestron control system. It would have to be installed and programmed by a dealer. You're looking at a lot of money.

I remember seeing a 8x8 HDMI matrix comparison thread around here somewhere. See if you can find that, it mentioned other options.

Could you cut down to 2-4 outputs, and just split them? That would probably reduce the cost a good bit.

Yeah I found the thread comparing the HDMI matrix switchers Here.

This one looks pretty promising and has a street price around $3000.

I don't think cutting down to 2-4 outputs would work without having to do cable-switching when changing sources.
