Can the latest crop pf TV's be connected to a wireless home networked??

Didn't know which topic this question should go under but I'll try here.

I just finished creating a wireless network between my laptop and desktop PC's

and will soon be buying a new lcd TV to replace my 6 year old 61" sony.

Realizing that TV's have changed alot in the last five years with internet features and other functions, I was wondering if any TV's now offer features that would enable them to be networked into an existing home wireless computer network.

Is it possible that they can be configured to access video files on the hard drives of my PC and play those video files wirelessy ???

I'm no expert on this, but "yes". I've got two DLNA Samsung LCDs, and with a wireless dongle I'm able to pull almost any media file off my HD. Sony was one of the other manufacturers that offered DLNA functional units when I was looking.

Don't expect it to have a nice interface or play all your media types, though. It will be limited. This is why most of us here stick to an external device, whether it be HTPC or a media player device.

DLNA is a superset of UPnP, with supposed standards enforcement.

All devices are a little different though, so once you find one you're interested in, try an Internet search.

As jrwalte said, the interface is often not pretty and always fixed.

Another way to get DLNA to your existing TV is to add a Blu-ray player with DLNA capabilities.
