The only real tradeoffs are a very slight increase in oversaturation of some greens, and very slight downgrade of black level. Compared with any other List, Lists #3 and #4 have the best definition of highly saturated colors. Best to worst overall color accuracy of Lists #1-10:
OTHER sources: #10, #9, #7, #6, #4
LIKE sources: #8, #5, #2, #4, #1, #3
I've now tried virtually every possible combination when INPUT is set to TV. Lists #9 and #10 are the best. GAME, USER, and maybe PC are the only modes with good enough basic color accuracy to work with. I still think new firmware could fix the color problems.

All lists are for the Sharp LC-40LE810UN Aquos (Quattron) sold in the U.S. in late 2010, with no firmware upgrade. All lists may only work for the U.S. model. LIKE means the list works only with my cable TV or similar video sources. My Sharp TV can identify my cable TV source through the HDMI port, and displays its colors differently than other sources. OTHER means the list works with all other video sources (DVD/antenna/cable/satellite/PC/games/etc.), and you can use any input (HDMI/antenna/component/composite/etc.).
Picture quality is mostly very good, sometimes excellent, but occasionally fair, especially for scenes that have a lot of specific inaccurate shades of color, or dark, highly saturated, pallid, or washed-out colors. If Lists #1-9 don't look similar or the colors are wrong, then you might have a different cable service, a different Quattron model, or different firmware installed.
USER mode settings must be customized for each INPUT, unlike the other AV MODEs, which share settings with all INPUTs.
This Quattron model has a brightness glitch that makes the picture in all AV MODEs blindingly bright. To prevent this, Backlight must be set to -12 in both MOVIE and DYNAMIC modes. If not already set to -12, then you must set them both to -12, turn off the TV, wait several seconds, then turn on the TV. If for some reason you can't switch Brightness to -12, but you can switch AV MODEs, then just switching AV MODEs a few times will restore normal brightness, but will not prevent the problem from recurring.
Other glitches may cause "clouding," and occasional, sudden oversaturation of colors after switching INPUTs or AV MODEs. These glitches seem to be correctable by switching INPUTs or AV MODEs a few times, and may be prevented just by entering in Lists #1-9, especially #4.
For sound, List #A1 is good for everything: music, movies, talk. List #A2 isn't very useful, but is better than #A1 for an unpredictable minority of songs and music, if the volume is turned very slightly higher. It's worse for everything else, and I can't explain this. Audio Settings must be customized for each INPUT.
