BTW, my existing HR21 works fine for me. I would like to have more HD space, and thought later models had 500 GB rather than 300GB, but on a fixed income simply cannot afford an add-on external drive. I was expecting an HR23 or so with a bigger drive. I understand that D* just ships whatever.
Yes, you can trust them. Customer retention agents are experienced, senior reps. But, even they can't control what the warehouse ships.
It doesn't hurt to ask with whom you are speaking and note the name, date, time, etc.
One reason there are several current models is that D* contracts with different OEMs. The suffix after the dash in the model number indicates which OEM made the STB. - 100 = RCA. - 600 = LG. - 700 = Pace. - 200 = Samsung. I suppose as the contracts are let, D* draws up new specs to include the latest bells and whistles, not all of which broadly apply to every situation.
