Call of Duty: Black Ops - Page 390

I really want to play skyrim, but I'm trying to imagine how I'll have enough gaming time along with BF3 and MW3... real world problems huh...
Skyrim... God yes. I will get it. Let my daughter play that while me and the wife acclimate ourselves to MW3. Then prolly like a lot of you who also get it, I will wait till christmas to play it myself.

Damn I love games like that. I tried to play oblivion on ps3, but the fluidness of the stick controls was terrible (the gains of the stick were off), and I couldn't play more than an hour.

Is skyrim the kind of game you can play on it's own without playing the previous one(s)?

Absolutely. The thing with all the Bethesda RPGs is that while you can sink hundreds of hours into them, there's no real time commitment required like JRPGs. Oblivion had a main questline that was like 10-15 hours, 4 guild side stories about 8 hours each, tons of side quests...and on top of that it's just fun exploring the world for countless hours. You could play the main quest and be done with it, or just keep going as long as you're enjoying yourself. None of it needs to be done in any order...you can do all the quest lines at once if you desire. You're just a dude in a wide world to explore....it's like the polar opposite of CoD.

There's a whole ton of associated lore and backstory to the world, but each game is self contained. They're not really sequels that continue the same story...skyrim takes place decades later than oblivion. I started just fine at oblivion, and that's number 4.

It's got a pretty steep learning curve at first but if you stick with it until you get it, there's nothing else like it. Its my number two favorite series in gaming...and I'm sure you can all guess number one.

I play plenty of others(when I'm able). Dead Island for now, and pre-ordered Batman, MW3(of course), BF3, and Rage. That enough for ya?

I went on the COD Elite site and it shows me as having 504 hours played! Not sure why the lifetime challenge in-game showed me at 496.6? That should put some minds at ease.

Yeah I loved Fallout 3, and I like the setting of oblivion even more. I love that kind of game, and I know I would have enjoyed it. I just hope the controls work for me better in skyrim. In oblivion, there was a huge dead zone on the aiming stick, and the gain curve was horrible. It was like 0-50% was everything, 50-100% did nothing. And it was almost impossible to quickly move the cursor slow for fine aiming. It's like 1-5% was slow, 10% was 10x faster than that, and then linear out to 50%, but at that 50% it was only 3 times as fast as 10% even though it's 5x the distance. Hard to explain, but it did not feel right to me at all, and no sensitivity changes helped. It was unlike any FPS / aiming stick in any other game I've played, so I couldn't get used to it, couldn't aim, and had to give up.

Fun games last night! We had a full party going in a Wager Match lobby and alternated through the different types periodically. Gun Game & Sticks and Stones were the favorites, followed by Sharpshooter, with One in the Chamber lagging behind because it turned into a campy game.

Real nice change of pace, I'd vote for doing it again soon.

Is that why you ditched us in BFBC2?

Yep, that was awesome for a change of pace. I actually liked One In The Chamber but it is much slower than the others.

Played last night after the Charger's-Pat's game. Pat's are looking better thank god!

Again had fantastic times of zero lag and great hit detection. Had the more norm where it felt a small % of a second slow and then I had all out suck ass 1 second delay Where I am suddenly dead or putting a clip into a uy with not hits to have him turn and pop me. Those games were geographically distant to me. Usually playing with my small group of friends.

But again, when playing local and either by myself or with my wife in my party it was awesome.

Nice! I was wondering where you went lol. When me and you get into a vehicle, we whoop some serious butt. Whether it's a tank or chopper, whatever, we seem to click really well in them! Was missing my buddy after you left.

Roger that GB. I was trying to finish that match but we still have 50 tickets left and my 3yr old was upset that I was letting the sundae he "bought" me melt!

Yep.

Looks like he has stolen PJ's heart too!

Hey I dont judge. This is America.. Greatest country on Earth. Just because some of y'all are gay, doesnt mean we cant still be friends. Even Ricky Bobby got over his phobia of gay friends. Look if PJ & The Dude end up getting serious, then I wish them the best of luck. And there had better be awesome bachelor party going down in Vegas!
