Thousands of 3D ready DLP HDTV's were sold by Mitsibishi and Samsung. These sets are only compatible with a 3D Format called the 3D Checkerboard Format. Panasonic recently released its 3D Blu-ray players and decided to include the 3D Checkerboard Format as an option. Samsung released its 3D Blu-ray players and decided to not include the 3D Checkerboard Format. It is interesting that Panasonic never manufactured a 3D Checkerboard compatible HDTV while Samsung manufactured thousands of these sets.
The PS3 with the largest installed Blu-ray player base has the potential to have the greatest impact on the success or failure of 3D HDTV. Therefore, I am asking the question of whether or not Sony should enable the 3D Checkerboard Format as an option on the PS3. Thank you for participating in this poll and I look forward to reading the comments regarding this matter.
