I am in the exact same situation as yourself, my baffle wall could not accommodate an OS so ended up ordering an S2. I have also accommodated for a Triad Cinema Plus sub in the rear to even out response and negate standing waves in height. Once all installed and calibrated if I prefer more bass above 20hz I will order another S2 as there is room for another one.

My original design by a professional called for two 18'' subs up front and two smaller subs in columns. Those column subs would hold back the S2 up front.

Like yourself, I have options.........two Triad Bronze subs were spec-ed in the front columns, but was thinking Silvers in the back row columns would be better.

After measuring room, I have quite a bit to make up.............I'm thinking maybe dual ported Pro 5100's would be best........that's the feedback I'm getting. In all practical purposes........two OS's would have been the ticket. wink.gif

Not going to place another S2 in room............for sure I'd hit single digits with it. I'm looking for more leveling and a little more output........that's what my measurements are showing. Once I have completed REW graphs, the whole story will be told.

I have read numerous times that the OS trumps the S2 above 20hz, but below that the S2 digs deeper. My room will be a dedicated room with plenty of treatments, since it's been designed by a professional I'm hoping that the room will be easy to work with. Fingers crossed!

Having heard both...........the fore mentioned statement is true with one caveat that I'm running a single S2 which is not enough for my 4300 cf room.

In actuality, I'm receiving quite a bit of gain in room...............gotta love sealed rooms with no leakage! I suspect dual OS's would be phenomenal but other avenues will have to suffice due to esthetics. What avenue is the question...........

If it wasn't due to listen to RMK's OS's............I'd be close to done! Therefore, the quest continues..............

How bad would it be to orient the lfu so the mouth is facing upwards? Asking first instead of just doing it because that thing is a pita to move.

Great! Thanks for the confirmation. Just glad I have a grill so I don't have to worry about my cat falling in there.

REW will help identify the issues. The resolution of those issues ... that's another matter entirely.

BTW, + or - 5db across all of the seats ain't too bad. wink.gif

Can dual OS LFU dig down to the single digits? And is it worth going down that low? I've never experience ULF under 20hz. I'm ready to pull the trigger on a dual setup. Already got a response back from Jeff for quotes on my shipping and custom cab for the OS and the S2. Btw, what you guys think how dual OS with black oakwood cab will look? I seen the S1 in that cab so I just imagine how the S2 would be. I'm also thinking of Rosenut if I decide on the OS. That color is more like my Studio Tech entertainment cab. But dammit, I still can't decide between the two. When I give Jeff a call I guess I can ask him about the S2 and the OS.

Either of those options would look best behind an AT screen. You do realize how big they are ... don't you? tongue.gif

Yea.. I actually put together a model of the OS with the exact dimension out of 1/2 ply from work. And kind put it up front stage next to my L/R. Just to show the wifey how it will look. And actually it doesn't look that bad if I place them front firing position. The only thing she doesn't like is the stock finish after I showed her the picture. I'm kind of wanted a different cab myself. I don't have a projector. So no screen for me to cover them. I have a 70" Elite Led.

That looks like a very nice display. I'm looking to get a much less expensive model as an alternate screen in my room.

I will say that if you go OS's you will never be lacking bass in your room.

Sorry but what speakers do you have or are considering?

You might check out Panasonic. I picked up an 50 inch ST model (dead middle out of 5 models) for 1k.

I'm looking at LED or LCD in a 65" or 70" size.

Not in a big hurry as I need to sell my fixed Seymour screen first. smile.gif

Really? Just curious why no Plasma? I know everyone has their preferences smile.gif
They have 65 one model year newer than mine for 1500! But it's one model down so not as deep blacks and color pop. But it's very subtle. It's hard when they have the displays up tho and you can see it!

I replaced my Pioneer Elite 151 pro with the 70". Which was a plasma. The 151 is now in my room. Honestly they both have deep blacks. But I think this Elite 70 has better blacks and contrast IMO.

RMK.. My current system right now is a 7.2 setup. For the front stage. L/R I have Def techs Mythos ST. C channel its the Mythos 10. My front stage is running off a seperate 3 channel amp ( Parasound A31). My receiver is a old one Pioneer SC-09TX. I like the waymy front stage sounds. Very full for my taste. And theres enough power up front for me. Although I set everything as small...

I think duals of the OS or S2 would be more than what your LCR's could handle. Two S1's would seem a better match.

CountryWV (Chris) had the Mythos ST's and now has Triple 12's matched up with a pair of Seaton Submersives. The Submersive's would be another good option. You should ping Chris for his take.

I was thinking of placing the 2 S1 in the back. And placing the 2 S2 up front for a more even FR. Since I'm going to ditch the dual Reference. It might be more then what my front stage will handle but things could be recalibrated to match. Im also thinking of taking out the SMS-1 and get into minidsp and rew.
And as we all say.. we can never have enough bass. Especially us bass heads.. lol

Wait, you mean 2 CapS2's and 2 CapS1's? Now thats a lot of sub! Buy big, you can always turn the volume down and match like you said. I might have an interest in the sms if you decide to sell pm me smile.gif

I know what you mean bro.. See I'm a carpenter. And I was thinkin of going the DIY route. But dang, I'm so choked up with work and family. Even my wife told me after I told her I was going to build them myself " aaaw! And when will you find the time to do all this? You haven't even finish the house yet!" lol.. Btw Popalock.. What kind of material you used for your cabs?

Your standard 3/4" Sandeply from the big orange.

My experience with birch from HD has sucked! Just riddled with voids everywhere. The sandyply worked out well and was much cheaper than going the void free Baltic birch route. I want to say it cost me a roughly $150 per box (duratex finish) when it was all said and done.

Glare and power usage is why I got rid of my plasma. I'm told the newer ones are better at power consumption, but the one mead used 400w I think and it also put out that much heat so I had to keep the AC on more often. Not a big deal to the typical person but my tv is on for 10+ hours a day.
DotJun.. Since you have the OS. Can I ask you your opinion on it? Do you think that would be your last upgrade?

Good input, thanks :cool:I am really specific technology agnostic on this one so I will get the best bang for buck as it is not the primary video source in the room.

If mama's not happy, nobody's happy. wink.gif

I'd go with the S2's aligned vertically as that would look the coolest.
