Blackmagic Intensity Pro capture extremely laggy/jumpy

So I just bought a Blackmagic Intensity Pro to capture video off my PS3 and to my surprise (after many hours of googling) I can only capture component :/ But anyway back to the reason why I made this topic...

So I'm trying to capture some video in 1080i, and I can't get it to capture smoothly. Whether I capture it raw or compressed, the video and/or audio is either skippy, desynced, or there is tons of missing frames. Is it my hard drive speed or cpu speed? (2.4ghz dual core).

Also, another thing that is bugging me is when I try to capture 720p content, the capture seems to be interlaced when I capture compressed. Why is this?

Most likely your graphics card that can not keep up with high resolution content?
What player software are you using on your PC?
What make model graphics card do you have?
Do you have options on what output resolution you want? If yes you may be sending it 720p and still asking it to output at 1080i.

I don't see how the graphic card is relevant since im just capturing, not playing back, i dont think there would be any video processing right?

As for the software player, I tried the stock software that comes with it (I forget what its called) and virtualdub, same results.

I want to be able to capture both 720p and 1080i natively.

How do you know the video is jumpy/jittery?

So, you are playing it back.

I meant playpack after I captured it.

My computer can handle playback of 720p and 1080p material just fine as I have download lots of 720p and 1080p videos and they play smooth.

The graphic card is involved if you are watching it live or are recording it and playing packed later.
Are the 1080p video you are playing 1080p/60 or 1080p/24 videos?
Did you check to make sure you do not have the BMI card set to output 1080i regardless of the resolution of the input.
The symptoms you describe are very common when watching 1080i content since the load on a graphics card and/or cpu when de-interace 1080i content is much higher then watching 720p or 1080p content.
