Seems to be common on these tv's from reading this forum. Mine does it as well. Not as much as when I first bought it but it still does it on occasion. A bit annoying but as stated it's probably due to thermal expansion/contraction.

Than you for your replies. Mine has never powered itself off, though. Only once when the screen saver was up for about a half hour but that's normal. The popping will stop if I unplug my hdmi input for my direct tv receiver and the av inputs for my Nintendo wii. After unplug them back in it will start back after about an hour.
Also, does this tv have decent 3d conversion? I'm really pleased with the 3d channels and the 3d Blu rays, but the conversion looks awful.

This TV does not support 2D to 3D conversion, or at least the LX9500 I had didn't do it. Also, I was not impressed at all with the 3D on this TV. Waaaaaaaay too much crosstalk and ghosting on the set. One of the reasons I ended up sending it back. Glad you like it though

Thanks for the advice and opinion! My remote has a 3D button, but when I press it on 2d tv it looks just awful, so I was just confused.
Also, it seems the tv pops more often on certain direct tv channels.

Last weekend friends visited me and we were drinking a lot. When they saw Full HD music videos on 55 inch LX9500 they were all positively shocked with the Picture Quality of LX9500. They also have big TVs from Sony and LG but they bought their TVs about 2-3 years ago and their PQ is nowhere near LX9500.

Now they want new TVs
I may be able to pick up a 55LX9500 for $1199 usd + tax. I think it's considered 'new' but it's probably a demo or open box/return. I know this tv came out in March 2010, but this still seems like a good value to me. Anyone care to share their thoughts? I would primarily be using it for watching dvd/bluray movies and playing PS3.

Hi, does anyone know the remote control code number of the remote of the 55LX9500.

I want to control the TV with my Yamaha remote from my RX-A3000 AV which has the ability to control basic functions like volume, AV imputs, channels, on/off and couple others.

The only trouble is Yamaha list about 40 different codes for LG TV's, they range from 0031, 0053, 0066, 0116 right up to 0478, ?

Thanks

I just bought a pair of wireless headphone to connect to my 47LX9500 and discovered there is no headphone jack?? how can that be?

How do i connect my headphones?

More spcificaly: I want to connect my 3.5 mm to the TV to get the sound from my PS3.

OR - is there a way to connect my 3.5 mm headphones to the Ps3 via an av/usb adapter or something?

do any of the RCA jacks output audio (i dont recall). if so then a rca-to-3.5mm adapter should work.

Nope..no RCA audio out on my unit..otherwise that would've been a good solution.

My television has the headphone jack on the left hand side by the USB inputs. I have my stereo hooked up using this and it works fine. It should be the same on yours I'd think.

Hello all-

I was hoping you might be able to help me out with a decision. I've had the 55LX9500 for just under 2 years, and with the latest season of Game of Thrones, the banding has me fed up. I just can't ignore it and it seems as if it's getting worse. Also, a new issue I've noticed is during dark scenes (again, in Game of Thrones season 2 primarily) the overall light level of the set will fluctuate wildly back and forth from near black to bright and washed out. I know the banding has been discussed as an issue, but what about this second problem?

I bought the 3 year extended warranty for the set, I've already had it swapped out once for banding. I'm thinking I'm just going to give up on it. I haven't been keeping up on the latest and greatest for TV's and I don't know what I'd move to. Any ideas on what I should look at - keeping in mind that the 55LX9500 dimensions are as large as I can go, maybe 2 inches taller.

Thanks.

Appreciate it, I have to dig in and see what the current 'best of all brands' set is. I'm not sure I want to go with another LG after these problems.

Any idea what the current top 2 or 3 sets are (of any maker)?

you should have had LG buy back that panel long ago. its a junk panel, well, certainly does not perform to the specs LG published, nor any of the hyped craps reviews that the panel got.

Just wondering. What did you end up replacing your LG 55LX9500, after they bought it back, with? Are you pleased with it? Thanks.

nothing yet. i dont like anything out there in 55-60", at least not at the rip-off prices these panels are being sold at. i was thinking about a quality CCFL, just not sure yet. currently i think walmart vizio is just as good as the LG crud. right now i am back to using my very old panny 42phd8uk plasma, but i need a 60".

I have only noticed some very very minor flashlighting in the 4 corners. I have not seen ghosting, haloing, or banding yet, will need to run some dvd content, but thus far this set seems way better then the lx9500. I do believe the lx9500 I had was defective, but others have mentioned they have the same issues, and, according to LG the issues I had were considered normal design of the panel.

Thus far this samsung is ok, but I have my receipt handy in case it I decide I just don't like it, etc.

One note on this samsung, when I went to update the firmware it said it already had the latest, so either its a very new panel or samsung simply stopped issuing updated firmwares.

Samsung series 6 tv's are garbage. If you did not buy a series 7 or 8 you should get your money back. You must of really had a defective set. The series 6 sets can not come close to the lx9500 in picture quality. Ghosting and haloing is a draw back to local dimming and the 6100 does not have that very important feature. Local dimming gives you a very high contras ratio, inky black levels and a better all around picture. Do yourself a favor and buy Samsung d7000 (2011) set. The picture quality will blow the series 6 set out of the water. If you are on a budget keep your set if not do your research before you waste your money and time on another set.
This 6 series seems ok. Are you saying its garbage because it doesn't have local dimming vs the lx9500? If the local dimming is what causes the horrible haloing then I guess I am glad I don't have local dimming now.

Interestingly enough, un55d7000 got about the same % distribution of ratings 1-5 as did the es6100 on Amazon by owners. The d7000 is about 400 more than what I paid for the 6100. I opted to save 300 by getting 55" now instead of the 60" 6100. I paid same as Amazon for 6100 from best buy, figured its much easier to return vs dealing with internet seller, etc.
What makes the 6 series garbage is it has a different processor and engine in it. It does not have 240hz memc, nor does it have local dimming. The filters and engines in the series 7 set would justify paying double the price due to the picture quality is more than double. The series 7 also have a way better color processor. To sum it up the 7 series tv's have about 5-10 times the picture quality when comparing it to the series 6. Pay the extra 400 and get the d7000, You'll thank me later.

I have been using 55 inch version for 1 year already and absolutely happy with it. Picture is amaizing and TV is very good for gaming - even for PC FPS gaming it is not that bad. LAG is fine.

Though, today I saw a problem. There was a dark rectangle in the right upper corner where back leds didn't work for some reason. It looked scary. But then it reverted back to normal. Now I'm scratchin my head why several leds were not working. It could be a bad contact or SW bug.

Hopefully it will not happen again. Anyway I have 2 years warranty - 1 year to go. So, I should be fine smile.gif

What settings are you using for gaming (either PS3 or XBOX 360), PC looks unbelievable on my set I just cant get my ps3 to look right. Could you post them with the input you are using.

Does anyone know where I can buy LX9500 active glasses in Canada? I cannot get one damn retailer (online or local) that sells the AG-S110 active glasses. Please help, I need two pairs!
