Just as an FYI, I get around 80-85 MB/s when I copy and paste to this drive from my samsung 1.5tb drives...70 from an old Western Green 1tb

What is the issue with 4k blocks? I am getting plenty of speed to stream a few movies off this drive.

The 4K blocks have issues with XP. If you have anything above that, consider it a non-issue.

It's only an issue if you don't jumper pins 7 and 8. FWIW, I believe Mwave.com has also been offering the same deal on this drive.

Some esata enclosures may have issues with 4K blocks / advance format drives.

Yea I got one from Mwave about 2 or 3 weeks ago for the same price.

Tiger Direct had a better deal yesterday not sure if it's still going on.

The email price was $99.99 AR ($40) + Shipping and Tax for some. Bing would not work on this one.

I didn't bite on it because of the Rebate,Tax,Shipping,Bing there was talk about Newegg dropping it to $120 during the week.

Grabbing me 2 of these and returning the 2 unopened 1.5TB I got for $90 from Newegg plus another $10 I can add to the order and I can pay it off in 6 months with NewEgg and by that time I'll need some more HDDs

I ordered this last week from Newegg for $109.99 shipped. I was waiting for them to be less than $100, but one of my external drives died on me.

Forgive my ignorance, but is that supposed to indicate that 4k clusters negatively impact read/write performance when compared to 512k clusters?

If that is the case (and heck, even if it's not), what is the supposed benefit to the larger cluster size? I have done some reading on the subject, but I'm still not entirely clear on it all.

The 4k cluster size utilizes less data for overhead and allows a higher density of user data on the platter. In theory it should speed things up a bit if the OS supports it directly. Otherwise it may slow things down a bit.

Green is GOOD! I love it. But, this drive is slower than others. Is the sustained read throughput of this drive fast enough for Blu-Ray (Virtual DVD Drive) and all its glory?
