Anyone use a NAS as storage for a Mac Mini recording live TV?

I'm thinking of getting a Mac Mini for my HTPC doing PVR duties, but it comes with such a small hard drive. I have an old NAS server, a D-Link DNS 323, with 2TB of space. Is it possible to use my NAS as the storage device for the Mac Mini for recording live TV and playing back shows? Thanks for any help.

It'll work for the most part but I did have some issues with stuttering on my mini if I used a network based drive for storage. I have a late 2007 mini and I'd imagine a newer one would do better.

Thanks for the input. I suppose I could sell my D-link and just use an enclosure, making the Mac Mini my NAS. I've never owned a Mac before, so I'm kind of wary of getting one for a project like this.

Have you thought about how you're going to record, i.e. what you're going to use? If it's EyeTV, you should know recording to a NAS isn't actually supported, though depending on the hardware you use, some do succeed.

Playback from a NAS isn't at all problematic.

Any audio/video content I playback on my mini, mostly recorded TV shows, is done exclusively via (wired) network - I have no content on the local drive. Either NFS or AFP mount, I've never had an issue.
