I'd just like to say....

You people are a crazy bunch! You've confused the living heck out of me in my quest for a 58-60" plasma, but it's a great learning experience.

I was just about set on the LG 550 until I heard about the QC issues. I am a Panny fan but need at least a 58 so that eliminates a lot. At least for now.

Mitsubishi? Nah, not for me....

Anyway, thanks for the help and I'll keep lurking and learning.

On the upside I did negotiate $200 off of the best price I have seen on a gorgeuos Klaussner sectional today! I'll put that cash toward the tv...eventually. Check THIS baby out! http://www.pilgrimfurniturecity.com/...&ItemNum=36601

Thanks again people.

Nice furniture to bad you don't have a tv to go with it you really need to set your priority's better. I would think the tv should come first but that is just me and a few thousand others on here

Agreed. Lawn furniture makes for comfy, portable furnishings in a pinch.

Haha! See, I'm actually being smart. Maybe you cats are still single, but when I give this sectional to my wife as a surprise present she won't complain when the 58 comes in right behind it! The lead time on delivery for this sectional is 4 weeks so I have to time the tv just right. I do have a 50" Panny plasma to tide me over at least.

Glad we could be of assistance. For the record, lawn furniture is inexpensive, durable, space saving, transportable. All good reasons the Mrs. should love you more when friends come over for those sporting events.

Nice looking sofa which got me early bird browsing for additional seating. Aiming for something like http://www.slumberland.com/furniture/Products/Maxwell-Collection---Brown-Home-Theater__PMAWA64.aspx?CategoryID=39

Lots of information on here (good and so-so) and yes, reading too much will make you dizzy and sometimes nauseated. In the end, it's for a good reason: to gain knowledge.

Thanks for the link N9. Sweet ride. That would be more apropriate for my mancave. (I should post pics) I will say that I have a nice leather sofa down there now and I'm dying to change it out to a fabric one. I just find that it stays too cold for my taste. Leather does look better though.

I think when it's all said and done I'll roll with a Panny. I have one. Love it. Reliable. Etc. Gotta be a 58 though and therin lies the problem....

Thanks again.

..I totally agree. ..It's very tough to apply any lessons learned here. One brand suffers from rising black levels, another from poor color accuracy and yet another from buzzing. Every brand has it's supporters and it's detractors and every model has it's strengths and flaws. ..I'm happy to say that despite all the griping about the Samsung 860 buzzing I bought one anyway (absolutely loved the picture, I couldn't hear any buzzing from the floor model, and the deal was fantastic) and thankfully the buzzing I hear is only audible if I TRY very hard to hear it. I either need to be right up against it, or move my head to the precise beaming "sweet-spot" and do either of these with the volume completely muted or nearly so. I HIGHLY doubt I would have ever noticed it had I not read about it here first. C'mon people, did you ever notice that in most modest sized theaters you can here the projector noise during quiet scenes?? To me that is FAR more noticeable yet people don't go nuts over that. ...They tend to accept that it's inherent in the technology and forget it.

And I can't help buy wonder about the seemingly guiltless way in which people will buy then return 2, 3, 4, or more sets as though their sampling ice cream at a local ice cream parlor. ..I'll admit that I too bought, then returned, my first Samsung. ..It was an LED set (UN55b7000) that suffered from bad flash-lighting and clouding. I exchanged it for the 860 - a plasma set. . ..But some here have bought 3 of the SAME set just to see which one buzzes the least or flashlights least, etc.. I can understand wanting to get the best your money can buy, but to buy/return/buy/return/buy... leads to raised costs for all of us, don't you think??

I just hope to hell that your wife looked at and sat on this sectional..as well being in love with the color!

If not BE WARNED...being in furniture sales for 50+ years.i found it a very rare thing when the wife approves a sight unseen piece of furniture that the spouse thought she would adore!

Good luck buddy..

Agreed. My DVR's hard drive is louder than a slight buzz in the TV, the color wheel and\\or fan in a DLP is noticeable, an owner's dog barking because they have to go outside, sirens, etc....

Perfect - no, but there are other everyday sounds and noises that we all accept and brush off. Myself, I have a constant buzzing in my ears which is equal to the level that my new TV gives off. I know my set has a slight buzz, but with the buzzing I constantly hear I still hear the DVR's drive crunching away and accept it.

Agreed, I can certainly live with a low seating distance buzz, when its accompanied by a great picture, no dead pixels, very nice blacks(B650), no pink hue(2008 "A" model owners know what I'm talking about), and 24p that works(on my set anyway).

If the PK550 had an AR Filter, it would probably be pretty close to a perfect set, but alas, my viewing location has windows.

Hey Hodges- She has sat on it here in CT and loved it. The color is not the red one but the sandstone. She loved that too. She just didn't think I'd get it so fast. And when I say to bring the tv in right behind it, I mean the SAME day! The further you get from the point of gratitude the more questions will be asked about the tv, lol. Who knows, maybe that sectional gets broken in sooner rather than later.

Thanks, Sisko. I think it's actually going to be the V10 afterall. I thought it had an issue but apparantly it's a great tv. I'm not concerned about the price and I have seen our resident expert's (Chad?) ratings, bt I'm wondering how many of you guys would choose the V10 over the LG pk550? To me it seems the LG has too many issues even though it's highly rated. Your opinion? Anyone else? Thanks again.

***ETA...and it's going to be the 65"....lol...

Good thinking...play your trump card ASAP!!

So I'm about 90% sold on the V10. Probably go 65" if I get it. The only possible alternative now would be the LG LK550. Do you guys think I'm making the right choice between the two if the price difference is not a factor? Which do you guys think has the superior picture once calibrated? Hope you all have a great weekend.

Depending on your budget, have a look at the VT20/VT25 series. Currently available in 50 and 54 and I believe a 65 is coming. I'm not sure what sizes are available on the G20 series.

Thanks, bro. Not really into the 3D though. Lot of issues still to be worked out with it and I get nauseous just thinking about it, lol. and from what I see the G20 isn't superior to the V10, at least in terms of PQ and black level. Do I take it you agree that the V10 is a better tv than the LG 550 though?

The G20 is available only in 50" and 54" sizes.

The G25 is only available in 42", 46", 50", and 54" sizes.

FWIW . . . .

Thing is, besides 3D, it still features the best techs Panasonic has, and it keeps you future-proof should you or your family decide to give it a try. 3D along would not sell me a TV either, but the VT has other good things going for it such as ISF Day/Night modes.

Yeah it's interesting when you weigh all the different advantages/disadvantages etc.. I guess if I'm going to consider 3D I'd rather go with the next generation, and I'm not really even interested in it based on some negative things I've heard about it.

That being said, is the PQ of the VT really much superior to the V10?

Oh, one negative I heard about the V10 which I'm not sure is true or not, is that this series is one of the main ones affected by the rising blacks. However, I also have heard that the larger panels (58 & 65) may not have this issue or may have it less frequently.

Anyone care to comment?

Anyone also care to comment on the choice of V10 over LK550?

**My wife still might klll me...lol***
