Some of the Samsung plasma TVs have a feature called Cinema Smooth which is a 24p mode for blu-ray movies. It is 96Hz whereas the LG plasma TVs are 72Hz for 24p blu-rays. The models that have Cinema Smooth in the Samsung lineup are the 590 and above I think. Although, you can enter the service menu on lower models (550, 540 etc) and turn your 550 into a 590 which should enable Cinema Smooth. I can't really tell you anymore than that, someone else will be able to explain it better/in more detail.
It seems like Cinema Smooth is fixed in this year's Samsung plasmas, although some people are saying it isn't. The problem was in the 2009 models, turning on CS made the black levels rise and caused the audio to go out of sync. If it indeed still broken then that is really unfortunate because it seems like the Samsung's have excellent color reproduction/accuracy.
I for one and really hoping it is indeed fixed, working problem free. Perhaps people who own a 2010 Samsung Plasma with Cinema Smooth can comment on this.
