I'm putting together a very simple outdoor theater. My basement isn't done yet, so my HD65 is sitting in my bedroom unused, screaming for attention. We live in suburban Milwaukee, so our lots are only ~ 1/3 acre and I have a really grumpy old man that lives across the street, so I have to keep the audio level down. The projector will be set up on a small table next to our patio area and the screen will be 14' away below a Maple tree, all enclosed in our fenced-in yard. Since the projector can only do 720p anyway, and since my wife already owns an iPad, I was thinking of using the iPad to drive the projector. This would limit our necessary hookups out there to electrical, and luckily my brother is an electrician. 
Anyway, I'm curious about my options for audio with this. The projector will be about 5 feet in front of where we're sitting, so I was considering just using a set of 2.1 computer speakers with powered sub. I'm wondering if that would provide enough volume for this type of setup. If I wanted to do something more powerful would I have to run a line in from the patio (for the iPad) inside to a receiver and then run speaker wire back out? Are there any outdoor speakers that are self-powered, take a 1/4" input, and can be set for left/right? Any guidance would be appreciated.
My screen will most likely be canvas pulled tight between two metal poles. These will be inserted into permanent PVC pipes cemented into the ground. My dad did this with a volleyball setup while we were growing up and it worked great. Just turn the metal pipes to wrap the cloth around until it's tight. Crossing my fingers to see if it works.
