I'd like to love Vizio a lot more ... but ...

I've got a Vizio 552 LED LCD set, and overall it is a great set. Unfortunately it wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. My expectation would be that Vizio could make an effort to support various legal media sites, like youtube, hulu, and others. Unfortunately they've decided not to.

I love Netflix on my Vizio, and will be looking for a 72" HD (possibly 3D) set whenever they come out, but I'll also be demanding better internet support from my next provider. Vizio has demonstrated they can provide great streaming via Netflix, but dropped the ball by not supporting other free content sites. That will be unacceptable in my next set.

Why not get a display for the picture quality, and leave the content to other devices

Media sites are going to come and go, hopefully more frequently than your TV's. It's best to plan on an external device for these.

The LG 2010 bluray players are excellent at streaming -- Netflix and particularly VUDU HD streaming (with dolby digital plus surround!) are quite good, possibly best in class right now.

Vizio embedded internet access into it's set. The Netflix experience is superb, and doesn't require me to use an HDMI connector. IPTV is going to be like other inputs, and Vizio should support the various providers. I have seen other similar sets that have youtube and have no idea why Vizio hasn't permitted the already existing youtube widget on this set.

As to companies coming and going, that is the function of widgets, to accommodate the coming and going of various websites. I doubt youtube, netflix, or hulu are going to disappear in the near future.

I think Vizio should orient at least part of it's service plan toward internet media site support. For example, the current netflix widget doesn't support search or comment functions. It would be nice to see some commitment from Vizio on improving the IPTV experience which is one of the great features that sets this TV apart from others.

If Vizio won't provide decent support for online content, people (like myself) who buy an IPTV set, will look at other providers. I like the set, but don't care for the limited selection of widgets.
