3D Blu-ray DVDs now available with Panasonic 3D Purchase

Long rumored, we now have official confirmation that Panasonic will be providing two 3D Blu-ray DVDs with purchase of a VT25 3D TV. Requires submission of a coupon and does not require purchase of a 3D Bluray DVD Player as Samsung's offer did. The two titles are ICE AGE and CAROLINE, BOTH in Full Blu-ray 3d!

you know what sucks as of now, I foresee animated kids movies dominating 3d releases. I just dropped 3k on my 3d tv setup and all I have to look forward to are a bunch of kids movies.

I feel your pain, especially after having seen Panasonic's 3D Demo disc with its incredible 3D views of the Grand Canyon, riding the rapids, Beach Volleyball in New Zealand, Sports features, and travel scenes. I do see that Samsung cut a deal to have Korean Pop Music stars filmed in 3D for upcoming 3D Blu-ray discs so not all content will be cartoons.

Personally, I can't wait until we get a high quality affordable 3D Video camera so we can have the option of making our own 3D Blu-ray discs.

So you get a combo - Blu-ray on one side and DVD on the other? Wow! People here don't know the difference between BD and DVD?

Well a BD is digital. (Good catch.)

What about Canadian customers - I have preordered my Vt25 (arrival any day now...)???
I'll buy them off anyone who doesn't want them. I loved coraline and my
kids love ice age. They were scared of monsters vs aliens.

Look at the packaging though (or compare to MvA). No standardization at all. Its going to be pretty hard to tell whats 3D and whats not.

it won't matter, all 3d blue ray disk will work as regular blue rays in non 3d players. The question is will they still release 3d movies with the red and blue glasses, then you have to wonder if you're buying the right 3d version. Now that's confusion

Confirmed not for Canadian customers at this point - considering I haven't actually received the TV (only pre ordered) - they sure do not have positive customer support - I simply received a 'no plans for this promo in the canadian market' message...

Anyone insterested in selling their copies - please pm me!

So no plans to bundle a movie with their $430 3D Blu-Ray player?

Well hopefully you get lucky with a good price; Monsters Vs Aliens is averaging around $130-150 on eBay. Ouch.
I am willing to trade my copy of MvA for either of these movies when released. PM me if interested. My kids are terrified of MvA.

Not sure if they were adding anything other than the demo? Panasonic Canada simply stated that there was no plan at this time for any content promotion with the sale of 3dtv's... they were pretty staright to the point with no additional release info...

What a bunch of BS! It only applies for purchases between 5/16 and 7/10!

Too bad for anyone who actually bought a Panasonic 3DTV based on the press releases that have been out for months saying you would get these if you purchased the tv without mentioning that you need to wait!

Panasonic just dropped down on my list of good CE companies and I will not do business with them due to this shady practice.

source: http://www.tvpredictions.com/panasonic031110.htm Fox and Panasonic are a bunch of liars.

I wouldn't be surprised if after this promotion, they'll do the same with other titles.

You have trouble seeing one of these logos on the package?

It's really weird seeing Panasonic advertise the new TVs by showing Avatar on them in the commercials. You know that Panasonic would love to be saying that Avatar could be seen in 3D on their TV. There was a lot of speculation, perhaps rightfully so, that Panasonic and Cameron and Fox were coordinating the release of the 3D TVs with Avatar being available on 3D Blu-ray. I guess Fox put a fly in the ointment by only wanting the 2D version available now. Next year, I doubt that Panasonic would want to advertise that Avatar could be seen in 3D on their TV. By then there will be other content that will be more contemporary. This sure seems like a blown opportunity for Panasonic.

Problem is, I bought my 58VT25 yesterday, it is not scheduled to be delivered until June 16th. I will have a hard time meeting the Promotional Claim requirement that the claim be filed within 30 days of the sales reciept date. I have to have the serial number of the tv and the upc from the box, which I won't have for, let's see, another 28 days, if all goes well. It will be real close.

When it arrives just have the store refund your purchase and repurchase it with a freshly dated sales receipt.

Any chance of just getting the refund and keeping the TV and just forgetting about the 3D BDs? Seriously though, I am going to just go in and get an updated sales receipt. They will probably do that.

Jimmy,

I think it has to be postdated 30 days from purchase. So I think you will be good.
