Maybe try using Sharks recommended settings. Also can you show what you audio settings are in his UI

As dbone posted, when you first install Shark the first thing you should do (unless you have a specific reason not to) is check the recommended settings box. That should do about 90% of your config work for you. I personally only have to change 3 settings beyond that for my particular set up.

So I should go through and clear all settings and then just check the Shark recommended box on each page?

Personally I would uninstall it (from within Shark by the way), then reinstall the latest and start from there. Oh, make sure you have UAC *on* when you install it.

However I do believe there is a reset to default option in the Shark settings, you could do that and then start from there too.

I am having problem playing wmv file with multiple audio tracks in 7mc. when I play mkv or mp4 files, I can switch audio tracks from ffdshow or Haali tray icon (not elegant but I didn't bother to set up my remote to do it). But wmv does not use ffdshow nor Haali, and 7mc does not seem to have a built-in way to switch audio tracks.

By the way, I can play this wmv file and switch audio tracks just fine in WMP and VLC. It evens works ok from USB port of my Sony BD player - by simply pressing "Audio" button on the remote, same as switching BD audio tracks. I just can't find a way in 7mc. any suggestions please?

Just received my new windows7 64bit htpc and have a quick question. ATI 5770 card and I've installed the newest Catalyst 11.5b but not getting audio out of the HDMI to my Onkyo receiver. I know I'm just missing a setting somewhere so any ideas? In the audio settings I've enabled the ATI HDMI Output as the default. Anything else I need to do? I thought I remembered I had to disable something else or maybe download drivers.

edit: solved it, had an incorrect setting in the Onkyo receiver

Total Media Theater 5 will allow 7MC to playback Blu Ray disk and Blu Ray rips in ISO or folder structure format, with bitstreaming of DTS/DTS-HD Master audio/Dolby Digital/Dolby TrueHD from these formats

I cannot find this option for plying a bluray from a folder structure format from within the 7MC Total media Theater 5 interface?

It seems to only allow me to choose to play directly from a disk?

Can anyone help with this?

If you use a plugin like MyMovies or Media Browser to launch TMT5 (uMCEPlayer5.exe) you can configure the plugins to launch from disc, iso, folder or file. I don't believe you can go straight into the 7MC TMT5 and play anything other than disc or iso.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and I'd like to thank all those that share their knowledge in threads like this. This guide, and other great threads, are a lifesaver for me.

I'm new to the whole AV aspect of computers. I've been working in computer related fields for about 15 years now, but my knowledge is limited to the different aspects of Intel based workstations that are intended mainly for the civil engineering field... such as hardware, databases, a variety of engineering applications and other workstation related stuff.

Again, I'd just like to thank the author of this thread, and others, for helping people like me. This is a wonderful thread. I haven't learned this much about computers all at one time since I took my first computer course back in 1996.

Thank you! I configured the setup exactly as shown in this guide and I realized that as I went through that media browser configuration step!

Sadly though, my audio that is bitstreaming through HDMI to my receiver is out of sync and video skips occasionally, so now I have to figure that out.

Finally finished setting up W7MC on my HTPC and everything is working great with the exception of Netflix playback. Whenever I load a movie in Netflix, playback gives me constant stutters. The funny thing is playback was silky smooth when I first installed Windows 7. I'm thinking there must have been a Silverlight update somewhere among the many updates I installed. Anybody else have this problem? Thinking about downgrading to an older version of Silverlight to see if that solves my problem.

Edit: Found the problem. I had turned off Aero thinking it would improve overall performance. It didn't. Turned it back on and the tearing is gone.

Following these directions I have just about everything working!

I have one issue though: Using Media Browser to play .m2ts files with dolby truehd or DTS-MA I am getting no audio. These files play within Total Media Theater 5 as an external m2ts handler, but it doesn't support bit-streaming due to certain restrictions of the m2ts file not coming from a bluray disk/folder/iso.
(TMT5 will only output as PCM, but to get more than 2 channel output PCM, I need to change windows sound device to 7.1 instead of stereo. This fixes PCM to play at 7.1 but breaks LiveTV within 7MC for me.)

So does anyone know why I am getting no audio when trying to play the TrueHD/DTS-MA m2ts file directly within 7mc from Media Browser?

A few other questions I'm not finding the answer to:

1) When I open a blu-ray folder from WMC>Media Browser>External player: TMT5.
Is there anyway for windows to auto-adjust the refresh rate to 23p instead of the normal 60p it's on? (and have it change back when I exit the movie?)
Currently I'm manually changing the windows resolution but this won't be very user-friendly when I put away the keyboard/mouse.

2) When I open a blu-ray folder from WMC>Media Browser>External player: TMT5. How do I close TMT5 without a mouse? It seems like I have to manually exit out of it to go back to the 7MC media browser interface. Pressing stop just sits at the blank TMT5 interface and the normal "exit/back" button I used for 7MC navigation doesn't do anything.

3) Within Media Browser I have my videos folder added which has lots of sub-video folders, including my "movies" folder which are blu-rays in folder format. I also have the "movies" folder directly added to media browser as that's one of it's main uses. My question is: Is it possible to exclude the movie folder from being seen within the "videos" folder within Media Browser? I'm basically getting duplicates for "recent additions" with the movies and "videos" section of media browser because of this.

I assume you used Sharks Codec Pack? If so you must have missed a step, did you try his default settings? Make sure you are using Gabest Splitter and I believe you need to have Media Foundation disabled for m2ts if you want TrueHD. Sorry, hopefully shark or others can give a better answer, been a while since I used the internal WMC player (I use MPC HC instead so no need to worry about any of these issues(

1) Supposedly auto refresh rate for TMT5 is coming soon (added in a beta version that is being tested). Otherwise you can use MPC HC for your BluRay folders which has auto refresh rate already

2) There are issues with TMT5 and Media Browser. I believe there was a change to the way TMT5 launches which is causing the issue. I know it has been discussed on the Media Browser forums but not sure where it stands currently

3) Media Browser will include whatever is under the top level folder you include. Why not just have a main "Videos" folder and then have subfolders underneath? This way in MB you would just link to all the subfolders and not have to worry about duplicates

For the refresh rate you can try autofrequency.
Made a guide on the MB forum.

Tmt was so stupid to remove the back button in tmt5.
So only way to quit tmt5 is with shift f4.
How's that for wmc integration.
Hope they will fix this issue soon.
Main reason why I still use tmt3.
And the annoying screen you get when you load a iso.
Where you need to choose which drive to use.
The optical or the virtual one.
And in the background you can hear the iso already playing.
Wonder why they broke some of the important things.
That works fine with tmt3.

hmmm... I followed the setting perfectly but have no sound. I'll check the media foundation though. Is that the option right below the Gabbist option? If so, I do have that disabled. (checked)

1) Regarding auto-refresh rate changes... is there any real advantage for me to use TMT5 currently over MPC-HC? I'm using it currently but really only did it because of this guide. I installed and assigned MPC-HC to m2ts files via media browser last night and they bitstreamed perfectly!

3) I just prefer to have the movie folder on it's own within media browser because that is the main area I will use it for and I will likely give it it's own custom background. Going through videos to get to movies just makes it more difficult for other users and less presentable for it's main use I guess. Just a preference.

Thanks for the reply!

1. TMT5 you will get full disc menus, BluRay 3D, etc... if that is something that interests you. With MPC HC you can only play the main movie

Ouch!

I'll look into putting a macro on my Harmony that will do shift+f4 (sure i't's not alt f4?)

I've never used tmt3 so I don't really know any different and I only open bluray folders not isos so I'm not dealing with that iso issue. Sounds like they don't actually have any testers using it with an HTPC like we do if these kinds of errors make it to a finalized product.

Very interesting... I only rip the main movie anyway, so I definitlely don't take advantage of these features currently.

One other question I had... when I'm watching live tv through my ceton... if I launch a movie from within media browser (or even launch media browser) it doesn't pause or stop the live TV. Is this normal or a possible setting somewhere?

Hmmm...never heard of that one before. I have had issues where Media Browser would launch MPC HC while the internal WMC player would play a movie as well. Sounds like a similar issue

Do you know where the media browser thread is? I tried multiple searches and cannot find anything other then random small ones.

Thanks!

Okay so I tried every variation of Sharks codec I could think of. default settings, sharks settings, all types of options inbetween with everything resulting in 0 sound playing the True-HD m2ts file within 7MC.

So I'll continue searching the use MPC-HC in the meantime.

But now it seems I have a different issue. Watching a blu-ray from a folder and the exact recommend shark settings here along with TMT5, I have an audio-sync issue. I'm using 23hz and I have an I5 with UAC disabled so that should result in 1 skipped frame every 8 or so minutes. The audio starts synced, but within a few minutes it's visibly off. I am using hardware acceleration. Any ideas?

Correction: It seems the video is the actual issue. It is lagging behind the audio.

Does anyone know how to find this within the Harmony software?

I cannot get it to find a specific model of remote for 7mc. My back button also doesn't work.

With my Harmonys (900 and One) I just chose Microsoft as the vendor I believe and all the functions (including back) work. Worse case just assign the back button in the customize buttons section of the harmony software (sorry I cannot be more specific, just did a reinstall of W7 on my PC a few weeks ago and haven't reinstalled the Harmony software yet)
