Ah ok, I have a 60A3000. It is better than the 950 in some areas and worse in a few others. Both great sets and very underrated for the $$$ paid out.

only thing I see worse is the slight lag which I knew of going in. A2000 picture got worse as it went on, like the color filters starting to fade a bit due to the UV light. Also picture was so very dark compared to the LG.

lag really depends on the video processing of the TV not the technology. This TV is not that great with lag even in Game mode with all processing off. I prefer the plasma picture, its more natural. LCD gives a sharper picture because of the pixel spacing i think. But contrast wise a backlit screen like an lcd just isn't gonna have the good shadow detail or uniformity that a pdp has.

I'm a Lt. Colonel on Halo Reach. If my 950 lagged, I wouldn't have been able to do that.
As I understand input lag is directly related to the tv's processer. Most have 8 bit which is the least of the newest tv's out today. 10 is what to shoot for and I'm not much of a Sony tv fan but I was told by a big box store salesman that the xbr, nx and hx have a 14 bit. I haven't confirmed those specs yet but ultimately the better processing your tv can do the better it is for gaming.

My 50PK950 from Onecall was delivered this afternoon. Stand was not pre-installed. Aug. build date, firmware 5.01. What was interesting the box was not strapped to a wooden pallet as described in the Onecall shipping video. It shipped from their WV warehouse so I don't know if things are handled differently in that location.

Guess newer models build in aug comes with .01 firmwares and stands not installed.

I have been trying to absorb all comments on this forum, so i am not certain if this was covered.

Ordered my LG 50PK950 2 weeks ago now (awesome deal on Onecall), as well as a PS3. My main concern here is, as some users suggested, i've toned down the TV modes (for example not using vivid mode and instead of sticking with APS etc) yet i still get a ridiculous amount of IR. With the Netflix menu on the netcast or with the PS3 main menu as well (with just 1 minute set time) is this normal or it lessens with the 200hr break in period?

I set to every single image/movie i watch on this TV to FULL screen. Its just scary that there IR with just a minute settle time (multiple images have to run by in order to wash out the IR)

Suggestions are appreciated.

p.s The PQ is awesome on this set.

I am curious if you will be able to update to 6.00 firmware on that set as it is exactly as mine.

I didn't have a ton of IR when new but it was there, the PS3 menu and Netfilx menu did stay up for a bit. I am now at a little over 400 hours and it is hardly noticeable. I still have the orbitor option turned on both my HDMI ports "cable box / PS3"

Something must have changed during August builds. I'm an August build with 5.01 and the stand installed.

6.0 still has the same apps, so no Pandora.

Still confused why the same tv uses different firmwares

I tried to update firmware but it said no update available

Got the TV yesterday and I'm very impressed so far. I got it through OneCall, and the entire buying experience was great.

The optical out does not seem to pass through Dolby Digital from my DirecTV box, which is connected via HDMI. Therefore, I have the optical out from the DTV box plugged directly into my AV receiver.

However, this TV does have an optical input. If I run the optical out from the DTV box into the TV's optical input, and then run the TV's optical output into the AV receiver, will the signal simply pass through without any manipulation? I don't have an extra optical cable to try it out yet.

I suppose it is also possible that the HDMI cable going from the DTV box to the TV is crap and therefore Dolby Digital isn't even being passed to the TV??? I'm using the HDMI cable that came with the DTV box over 2 years ago. That said, my new blu-ray player didn't pass through from HDMI to optical out either.

I'm going to have to use the TV's optical out to be able to hear the audio from Netcast or external media content. Just trying to figure out if I can run the optical from DTV box to the TV, in order to save one input on the AV receiver. As it is, my optical inputs on the AV receiver are both occupied, so I'd need a converter to convert optical to coax, unless I can do what I want. OK, I'll stop rambling.

THX mode is awesome. This is a huge jump forward from my Sony GWIII rear-projection LCD, which, by the way is going to be replaced for free due to an internal melting issue.

my guess is that in aug, when the 3D PX950 tvs were in production LG switched the video chipsets and streamlined them to both pk/px requiring different firmwares than the older build.

Me too, I e-mailed LG about this already but got a non response back from them.

That is the only thing that really makes any sense to me as well.

However getting LG to confirm this will probably be impossible.

Unless I'm completely missing something, the TV does not have a digital optical (or coax) audio input. Output, yes. Any digital audio to the TV has to arrive via HDMI.

Oops, you're right. It's a PC audio in.

Well, that certainly simplifies my options!

Thank you.

How is a rokubox compaired to a PS3? I use a PS3 for Netflix and streaming video from my file server with PS3 Media server.

I like the roku box because, it had pretty much every streaming option thats always powered on. PS3 has to be powered on and go in to its submenu. Granted the PQ is slightly better on the ps3 but not enough hassle for me to use the ps3.
