Yes, they come with the TV. Before I even bought the TV, I was reading in the other Sammy Plasma thread that if your TV buzzed, nothing was going to help, even the ferrites. I left mine off because I have the ultraslim mount and I wanted my TV to sit even closer to the wall and the ferrite core was propping it off the wall.

If Samsung is including them...I'd be led to believe there might be electo-magnetic interfernce...magnets minimize EM??? Would think wiring has shielding in it??

Pondering if rogue EM also may cause this???

Seems strange Samsung would include this...if it serves no benefit? You wouldn't have URL to said information PE?

I took delivery of a pn58c8000 yesterday and am very happy with it so far. It replaces a un55c8000 LED, which I decided to return due to uniformity and viewing angle issues.

Although I like the set, I have noticed one major problem. When connecting a Nintendo Wii to the set's component input, I get horrible static lines that stretch horizontally accross the screen and continually move upward. The Wii's output is set to 480p, and the same problem occurs if it is set to 480i. I've been able to minimize (but not eliminate) the horizontal lines by setting sharpness to 0, but this isn't a true fix and I really don't want to have to do this.

The Will worked perfectly on the un55c8000, so I don't think it has anything to do with the Wii or the component cables. Could my set have a faulty set of inputs? Anyone have any other thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

I have the same set and the Wii hooked-up the same way. I haven't had the chance to test it out, but I will do it later today and report back! Now I'm interested as well.

Thanks. FYI - It is really bad when playing Tiger Woods 10, but it is also visible even on the home screen.

It does not sound like the inputs. It sounds like there is some kind of interference. I used to get lines like you describe occasionally on old tube tv's when running a vacuum or microwave or other electrical device. Horizontal lines that move up the screen? (like reverse "Space Invaders"?) I would try moving the Wii as far as possible from the TV. Also, are they plugged into the same socket?

The C7000 in the UK is the same model as the C8000 in the US. The C6900 in the UK = the C7000 Stateside.

Confusing much?

C7000 UK = C77xx EU mainland = C8000 US

Mainland models have different DVB tuners (DVB-T2 and/or -C, and/or -S etc...)
EU models dont have the Cal-Night and Cal-Day modes but can record TV to external USB. There is probably more little differences too but the panel should be the same with Real Black Filter.

Never had any problems with my Wii - used component and also used HDMI with a component-to-HDMI convertor

Thanks. I'll try moving some things around and see if that helps. The Wii is in the same place at it was with the LED, but come to think of it I did move the plug to the same outlet after getting the plasma (the TV and Wii used to be plugged into the same power strip but now I have the TV plugged into the power strip and the Wii plugee directly into the adjacent outlet on the wall)

Hi, I am new to this forum and tried to get some answers concerning the C8000 in another forum but came up dry.
I haven't purchased the tv yet because I would like to get feedback from you the owner's.
1) Is image retention a significant problem (compared to other manufacturer's
plasma sets?
2) I have seen a lot of posts about "dead pixels", again more than I have
come across in reading about other sets.
3) the Buzz-is this significant?

Please, I would appreciate your real experiences with the 8000-I am not trying to knock the set, I just have read about these things more with the samsungs (maybe not the 8000 as much as the 7000).
I really want this over the Panasonic VT20, because I have read that the 8000 has less overly saturated colors and a better anti-reflective screen.
Thanks for your input

I just tested it out on my Wii with the PN58C8000, and I could not see any of the static lines you were talking about. I tried it in a few areas including the home screen, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Super Mario Brothers (VC), and River City Ransom (VC). Maybe try some of the things DarrenK suggested to see if that helps.

The answers to your questions will vary. The only question I can answer is IR. I did a 200+hrs of "break in" on my 58C8000, and haven't seen any IR since. I also play quite a few video games, the main reason I did "break in". Also the buzz on these sets seem to vary from really loud, to quiet as a mouse....mines in the middle, but I hardly notice it anymore. As for dead pixels, I don't have any, but other people have.

Good luck in your quest, I really enjoy my 58C8000. Either TV is great, unless you get a "bad" one.

I've had my pn63c8000 for about a week now. I noticed this very very faint horizontal bar about 1/4 way down the screen that seemed to be about 5-6" tall while watching golf. I could only see this when the camera panned while the ball was in flight. Now between those that I have pointed this out to here at home and me, it seems like its two seperate lines that are very very light blackish/greyish color. Ive tried using different connections for trouble shooting and its not that. Should I just call tech support? I cant return the tv and get another one because the local BB isnt Magnolia so it would have to be reordered. I paid for the in home warranty so maybe I wont have to try and transport this tv without its box.

Any ideas of what could cause this? Def not IR for sure.

Oh, and to top it off mine is quiet as a mouse.

You have a bad set and should return it for a new one asap. Samsung has had banding problems in their plasmas for years. That slightly dim line across your screen is going to show up on every source and start driving you crazy until its the only thing you look at anymore.

I had two buzzing C8000s which I returned for a VT25. I am thinking of switching back to the C8000 but unsure yet.

Buzzing should be your only concern out of the ones you have mentioned.

From my experience Image Retention is better on the C8000.

Dead pixels. This is really rare.

There is a thread that compares the Vt25 and the C8000. If you are serisously considering each of these I recommend you read this thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1250863

Towards the last few pages I have posted most of my impressions.

For those of you that have had to exchange a television for various defects how do you go about doing it?

I picked up a 58c8000 about 3 weeks ago from BB. I noticed recently that the first column of pixels isn't behaving properly. When the screen is displaying RED I can see that the first column is still showing green and blue, GREEN still shows blue and red, BLUE still shows red and green.

I'd like to get a replacement no way do I want to be dealing with repairs on a 3 week old TV.
Do I need to take the TV back to my local BB and return it? Or do I simply take the receipt and let them know I want a non-defective one?

Will they still deliver free of charge on a replacement?
Yes they should redeliver it if was delivered originally.......

PN63C8000 delivered 2 days ago from Best Buy, came with the 3D kit and blu-ray player.

- No audible buzz, however standing a few inches in front of the screen in absolute silence (when my kids aren't around) you can hear a very soft buzzing. It's mounted on the wall above the fireplace, middle of the screen at eye level.

- I've been running these break-in slides off a USB stick for the past 48 hours when not watching TV. Gonna try out mantis' settings after a few more days of break-in.

- Using this ultra-slim mount from monoprice. Went out and bought some 16mm M8 bolts for the TV mount, which worked perfectly. Very easy to setup, good quality mount for CHEAP.

- Using these HDMI cables from Amazon, so far so good.

- Wired internet into a 4-port DLINK wireless-N bridge. Network setup was seamless, the set came online when I started it up for the first time.

- It came with the 1024 firmware already installed.

- Ordered 4 pair (2 adult, 2 kids) of rechargable 3D glasses from this guy on Ebay. Glasses arrived within a week from Korea. I tested them, and they all work great. Appear to be authentic Samsung.

- Was not very impressed with the N3D channel on DTV. Some ghosting and it gave me a headache, hard to focus on some frames. After hooking up the new TV, I needed to reboot the HR21 receiver before it would recognize the 3D capable set and allow me to watch the 3D channels.

- 2D to 3D is very cool, tried it out on my PS3 w/ Tiger Woods, and it looked amazing, however it wasn't perfect, some occasional flickering and whatnot, but still looked awesome. Kids loved monsters VS aliens.

- No issues w/ lag when in game mode.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with the TV (so far). I'm glad I decided on the bigger set, it looks huge (i choose to sit ~8-10ft away, but the back wall in the room is ~17ft from the TV so I can adjust my distance as needed) for 3D IMO bigger is better.

Quick question for the fellow owners..am I in the minority that actually like the "soap opera" movement with the MJC on? I love it, but I hate the ghosting effects on the borders of the image that it has on anything thats moving fast. I've called samsung, who has sent out a tech, but the tech can't figure it out and samsung's playing dumb like they don't know whats going on. Anyone else have this effect? And has anyone found the fix?

Yes it is a limitation of most frame interpolation systems (MJC) and is not a fault with your TV. The fix is to not enable MJC...

there lies the problem, without it on, the movement sucks, the picture is blurry with things moving, but with it on, movement is excellent, but it has that ghosting. This shouldn't even be an issue especially for the $$ we're all shelling out for these...... and quite honestly, I don't feel thats an answer we should have to live with. Samsung knows it's an issue, and they should fix it. But..well..the squeeky wheel gets the grease..and unless enough people complain, they won't do anything.

Hi first time posting I would greatly appriciate any advice anyone could give.
I purchased the 50c8000 back in July from Best buy, I'm outside of the 30 day range so I cant get a straight up exchange. I had some image retention while watching espn mostly or if I would pause netflix for like 5 min I assumed as the plasmas aged it would get better and eventually dissapear. I was wrong its actually worse now the image retention happens after watching espn for less than 10 min and with any kind of static whatsoever after 5 min. Now just recently in last few days started seeing horizontal banding at the bottom the screen about 3 inches up. I'm freeaking out , called samsung they sent local service business that is approved samsung service provider, I showed the guys the retention from watching espn for short time , and right away he says yep you have bad tv thats not normal you will need a replacement panel installed. He says they put in the new panel right in my living room takes about an hour. Called samsung back and they say they will not replace with new TV until 3 service issues have been repaired. I'm stuck , I just dont think that a premier television such as this should be needing repair parts after a month. Plus i'm worried what else could go wrong accidently during new part installation. has anyone dealt with these issues? need advice soon.

Picture settings have been standard cell light 14, contrast 56 brightness 47 dynamic mode low, all pixel shifting to max at 4:4 1 min and 10 min protection time, never played 4:3 for longer than 1 hour and mostly only watched HD , no gaming , and watched several bluerays, nearing 100 hours of usage.

Did you try the option where there is a horizontal bar that runs across the screen to wipe image retention off?

Sounds like a big bummer.

I was in a similar situation with a Sony SXRD TV years ago and the repair never fixed the issue and caused other issues. I am not sure but I think if they replace the panel, that is pretty much like replacing the whole TV anyways so you should be good, HOPEFULLY!

what I heard, someone at BB and mag said that TV above $999, comes with free delivery.
I had 50' that buzz, and talk to my mag guy, and upgrade it with 58', they come and deliver the new TV and the same time take the problem one.
He even said if I still have problem with the new one, I can still exchange it and they will deliver it for free

Buy a new panel from BB, make sure it works and return your current panel with the new receipt. It's a pain in the ass, but I have done that before when customer no-service left me hanging.

everyone

I find a review site that also has calibration result that I want to share.
Somehow, I can't post/hyperlink to that particular address.
I am not sure how I can share it.
Are we allowed to do this? sorry I am a newbie

I'm getting ready to hang my PN58C8000 on the wall, and I'm trying to decide on the best mount. I've been looking at both of the Sanus models below.

Sanus VMPL3
http://www.sanus.com/us/en/products/...g-mount/VMPL3#

Sanus VLT15
http://www.sanus.com/us/en/products/...g-mount/VLT15#

Does anyone have any experience with either of these (or other mounts, for that matter)? This is my first time mounting a TV, so I'd appreciate any feedback. I like the ability to tilt the TV, but it's not completely necessary. The wall where it will be mounted is a full wall with no obstructions, so it can be mounted at any height (to be level with the eye). Thanks in advance!
