I apologize ahead of time for asking because I'm sure this has been answered at least a 100 times, but the search feature sucks and I'm lazy. What are the recommended break in settings specific for the C8000 if using slides (contrast, brightness, hours, etc.)? I'm assuming there is an option to load slides on an SD card or USB thumb drive instead of running slides on a DVD. I bought the 63" but it hasn't been delivered yet. Thx.

SOLVED: I realized that "Screen Fit" is not allowed with an input of component video at 720p. I needed to change the input to 1080i.

My PN58C8000 was delivered today. Luckily it was delivered without defects and no buzzing that I can hear.

I want to run burn-in slides. It is recommended to use "Screen Fit" during burn-in but that option is grayed out no matter what I try. The user manual does not indicate any settings that needs to be turned off/on to use "Screen Fit"

I am running firmware 1032. Upgraded from 1020 which came with the unit. After the upgrade the unit auto restarted so I do not think that is the issue.

Any suggestions?

Manufactured: Mexico, June 2010

Too early yet to comment on the picture but looks great OOTB.

Is this accurate? for the PN63C8000 the Crutchfield site it says the height is 35 7/8. With the stand it is 38"

that means that the stand takes up only 2 1/8"

Is the stand adjustable? or am i misreading the measurements?

Would it fit into this:

I'm sure it's in this monster thread somewhere, but if someone could post the link to get the latest FW it'd be much appreciated.

Whey do TV manufacturers feel like PIP is no longer an important feature? I use the hell out of the PIP on my old six year old DLP. One of the reasons I didn't consider the latest batch of Mitsubishi DLP is absence of PIP. And absence of VGA/DVI input. What gives???

My old MIits DLP allows you to have any two sources in you PIP and has numerous PIP display options including the ability to swap sources from main to sub.

A top of the line set like the C8000 should have complete PIP capability!

uscpsycho,
Remove the extra spaces from "f o r u m s "
CNET settings:
f o r u m s .cnet.com/7723-19410_102-500232.html

Firmware/Manual URL:
Remove the extra spaces from "w w w ". You may want to change the model but I suspect the firmware is the same for each C8000.
w w w .samsung.com/us/support/downloads/PN58C8000YFXZA

Note: Yesterday (Nov 30th) I successfully updated to 1032 firmware using the on-line method.

Definitely not an IR. The text/logo appears on the TV since 4 days. No sign of improvement.

The description of the "Motion Judder Canceller" in the TV menu is very confusing. One thinks it should be set to "Smooth", however "Off" is the right setting. It looks much better now with MJC set to off.

Has anyone had a issue where a solid black line extends across the bottom of the screen about 1/4" up? It stays put at all modes..

Where can I find the manufacture date?
This morning I ordered my furniture. A Wood Technology CMV-66 in Ebony with the Glass doors and the tapered legs. Plus a matching 58" stereo rack: Wood Technology AR-58 also in Ebony with the glass door and tapered legs. (these links are just for the pictures, I found a better price elsewhere)

I'll be ordering the TV from BB before Saturday (when the sale ends). Most likely I'll get the 58" I sit 9 feet away. I'm tempted by the 63" but think it will be too much for casual viewing.

The furniture should arrive on the 10th or 13th. I'll schedule the TV to be delivered later that week, the 15th or 17th.

Picked up 63" c8000 last night man this is a beautiful set...and its not a buzzer

I placed the order online at BB for the 63" for the bundle 3D kit and blu ray player. I had originally set it for in store pickup, its only after an hour or two i realized i could have done warehouse pickup in NJ, i called BB they switched the tv to warehouse pickup and the other 2 items for in store pickup. The warehouse closes at 7, i left the bronx like at 530 hoping to get 40 miles into NJ by 7 because i was so anxious to get the set. Got the set home opened it up and tried the 3D shrek and then avatar blu ray....and i was amazed at how awesome the blu ray looks its ridiculous. Now i just have to wait a few weeks to set it up when i move into my new house, gonna be the longest few weeks lol

It's on a label on the back of the TV along with the serial number, part number, power usage etc etc.

We sit about 9 feet from the 63" screen and I certainly don't think it's too big - although we don't have anything bigger, i.e. a projector and large screen.

I ordered mine from BB in Rockaway, NJ 3 weeks ago and was happy to see you could now pick it up at the Warehouse in NJ...of course once I got there and they got the box to my truck it was just slightly too big to fit. I had to take the panel out and carefully lay it down in my small SUV.

I hear a slight buzz with my ear about 6" from the TV but not when sitting on my couch which is about 8-10ft. away..but then again my computer is also constantly running too so I hear that.

Now I see it on sale for even cheaper so all I have to do is bring back my HTTYD Starter Kit, swap it out for the new Shrek Starter kit and get my price adjusted..WOOT.

I sit about 9 feet away and the 63" is fine. I'm glad I didn't get the 58" since I already feel this TV is shrinking. Go for the 63"

I never think my 63" is too big at nine feet.

I can't be sure. The plug is flat, right-angle and the cord exits at about 45 degrees. I used the double gang version of this http://cableorganizer.com/arlington-...cal-boxes.html. I put an in-wall surge suppressor (http://www.amazon.com/Leviton-5280-W.../dp/B0006I33Y6) on one side and fed my HDMI and ethernet cables through the other side. Alternatively, I could have installed a normal flush single-gang outlet for the power and a separate box for the cables.

Nice on the price adjustment.....i havent heard any buzz so far with the vol all the way down either right next to the tv or up to 10' away, crossing my fingers that it stayed that way. I was worried about the whole break in period so i just checked out the two movies real quick less than 10 minutes each and then turned it back off.

It was your post from a week ago that made me seriously consider the 63"

I don't have a dedicated TV room, the living room the only room people will sit in when they visit.

I know the 63" would be great for movies and sporting events. I'm concerned about when the TV is just on in the background.... or the news is on or something. I'm afraid it might be overbearing then.

I will be happy to be convinced to go with the larger TV. Still have 2 days to make the call.

Get the 63" you will not regret it or you might regret you didn't in a month I just bought a 65" to set under my 106" pull down projector screen.

Picture Burn-In not protected by your Warranty !!!!!!
I just spoke to Samsung, they say the moment you walk out from the store with your TV, there is no warranty against "Picture Burn-In". My TV is 2 weeks old.

No more Samsung products for me.
I got the 50 incher and I sit 9 feet from the screen. I can safely say 63 would not be too big. I would have purchased the 63 if I had the funding.

What were you picture settings when the "burn in" occurred?

Mine is at about 35% of the way down the screen. Magnolia Store Geek Squad checked it out and immediately ordered a new screen for me, along with a new mainboard (IR sync problem and network issues, too). They're scheduled to be out Monday to do the surgery.

Factory Settings: Auto Protection was set to 10 min, which I changed to 1 hour after I noticed the problem.

I would put it back to 10 minutes. on my 50" I will see IR after less than 10 minutes on pause. I would prefer to have Auto Protection kick in after 5 minutes, but unfortunately its not an option. Firmware hack anyone?

What is this "break in" period you guys are talking about? I didn't do any break in..just started watching stuff on it right away.

I have the C7000 upgraded to C8000 and I have PIP in my tools menu. I even tried it and it works. It uses the built in tuner of the TV and u need to have a cable line hooked up to the TV. I currently have cable line going to my box then hdmi cable from box to tv and another cable feed going into tv from splitter. I did this cause I thought the DVR feature worked but unfortunately it doesn't on US sets.

Of course it's your room and your money but ask yourself: Are you more likely to regret getting too large or too small?

If it is that small it sounds like the Pixel Shift IR prevention feature to me. Check on it every 5 mins and see if it has moved to a different edge of the screen. (I don't recall what the default shifting time is.)

Or try turning off the pixel shift option off temporarily and see if it goes away. (I leave mine on just to be on the safe side.)

How bad does SD content look on this TV? What about old VHS?

Will sitting 9 feet from the 63" tv make this content un watchable? What about the 58"?

Are there any settings that can improve it?
