Sorry, I still disagree. There are too many factors involved to say it's all the TVs. I'm sorry that your TV blinks, also I don't see this helping anyone. If you have some hard facts, please post them. If not, then this discussion is over. By the way, a "friend of a friend" is not a reliable source.

Thanks

yea im probably wrong. thousands and thousands of owners just got faulty sets. its probably not the design. all just a crazy coincidence. discussion. what discussion. you are logged on to a forum about this tv that is in place to talk about this tv. im not seeing how any of these posts regarding the blinking is helping anyone anyways. hard facts? what? im glad your replying to me not to reply anymore. you quoted me.....remember?

Thanks.

I have the chief lttu and love this
found it pretty cheap on thenerds with a free shippig coupon
took me about 15 min to mount , toughest part was getting a friend to help with lifting the tv. got the til so I had room to move or adjust cables as needed, the bottom legs are ok, but nicer when you can pull the tv out a few inches from wall when needed to add things or adjust cables

Anyone here notice that price drop in the PN63C8000 at Best Buy? This set with the starter kit and 3D blu-ray is now about $200 less than I paid for it at BB around Thanksgiving. At least, I think the starter kit and blu-ray player are included - it looked that way from the weekend flyer but can't tell from their web site.

Fortunately at the time I bought it they had the extended holiday return policy valid though the end of January. I'm going to take my receipt in and have them price match it. I wonder if they will give me a hard time about it if the bundle is slightly different (not same starter kit as this one comes with different movies and maybe not same blu-ray player).

Anyway I was wondering if anyone else in this boat was able to get $200 back as I think a fair number of people here bought the set around the same time I did. Thanks.

If all that is different in the bundle, then it is really not the same thing as what you bought, price matching is for identical. So yeah, they will probably give you a hard time.

back in october i got $200 credited to my best buy credit card as a price match with my reciept. and a 3d bundle with 2 glasses that they didnt have when i initially got the set.

I have my PN63 connected to the internet via an ethernet cable that goes to a DAP-1522 bridge from DLINK. When I test the download speeds with a laptop connected to the bridge, they are not spectactular, but are up in the 9-10 mb range, which should be adequate for HD streaming. Here's the weird thing:

With Vudu, I can stream movies using their HDx service, i.e., highest HD resolution and DD audio, no problems, and it really looks great and sound's pretty good. With Hulu Plus, which does not stream DD audio, I can't even get the set to reliably stream in the lower resolution HD setting. Instead, I have to leave it in SD all the time. What gives?

Anybody knows if the c8000 can accept Internet through HDMI cable connection?

"Dirty Screen Effect" while watching Hockey?

I originally had a 58c8000 but upgraded to a 63c8000 in November.

While watching Hockey, when the camera pans side to side I noticed some darker patches on the ice. Origially I thought it was the broadcast or the ice, but I knoticed when the camera pans side to side the patches remain stationary on the screen. Almost looks like the ice is slightly darker or dirty in those spots, but when the play stops or the camera zooms in the patches aren't noticable anymore.

Anyone else have this problem with their 63c8000?

Or know of a fix?

I noticed it too with Ice Hockey. Not sure what it is, I thought it was some IR that I have from my video games (that I'm currently trying to erase)

Although it's HDMI 1.4, the Owner's Manual specifically states that the TV does not support Internet over HDMI.

I took my receipt back yesterday and they credited my card for the difference. The starter kit is the same as what I got on the original purchase. The blue ray player now is the BP-c7900 and what I got originally was the BP-c5900. The c7900 are currently out of stock and they are "waiting for a shipment from Samsung". They offered me the c6900 but would not refund me the price difference between the c7900 and c6900. Now I may have to wait a couple of months for the c7900.

Question about the blinking... Is everyone using a Motorola DCX 3400 box, or are there other cable boxes that are producing this issue as well? (Yes, I realize that people are getting the blink on all sources!)

I just don't see evidence that there are thousands though there certianly could be. I guess if you count all the folks who have only had blinks when they are out of the room it probably is in the thousands

One thing I really miss on this set that I had on and is present on most, if not all Sony's, is the dedicated button for picture mode. It seems to me this is more often accessed than pic size yet there's a dedicated button for that but not pic. mode.

Does anyone have or know if there are discreet codes for this? I only use movie, cal-night, and cal-day but it would be nice to have one button as opposed to having to always go into the menu or tools.

I bought my bundle around the same time (11/27) but the price I paid is the same as the new flyer/website pricing. The only difference is the better bluray player that I'm going to take back and see if they will exchange for.

Nice price drop on these.......

--With this type of pricing it seems as there is a new " best bang for the buck "

Ok Guys, Best Buy is going to make me pay $25 for the Shrek Bundle vs the HTTYD Bundle.

Since I have to pay for the Shrek bundle. Can anyone please confirm the glasses are better with this kit?

I can only say that I have the Shrek bundle and the glasses have not had problems to the degree others have described. For example, in watching 2-3 full 3D movies, I have had a maybe 2-4 instances of sync loss that have lasted about 1 second each. I can't say for certain that those instances did not result from me turning my head away from the screen. In short: a one second sync loss, on average, every 1-2 hours, if that. It really hasn't bothered me.

I have searched but not found discrete codes for picture modes.

touche touche.......good one. i just think its funny that everyone hasnt excepted its a fault in the design. just as you typed this reply yours could have just blinked and you missed it. i mean lets think here......theres just so many diferent brands of tvs that weve heard this happening to. or just the samsung models in the last few years. hmmmmmm

Or for Sources (input devices). It'd be great to have both.

I'll be getting my 63C8000 tomorrow from PC Richards for a great price thanks to theanimal, I'm keeping my fingers cross to get a good one that doesn't buzz too loud and doesn't blink. I can't wait.
I'll be watching the Super Bowl in 63" instead of 42".

They exist for the inputs, at least they are in the Harmony database. I figured there weren't any of picture mode but that seems like such an oversite.

The included remote for any TV should have discrete input buttons and discrete or single buttons to cycle through apsect and picture modes. These are the three things most often accessed/changed.

I think it would be better if it were actually image retention since you could run the scrolling Black and white bars to fix it. I tried running it for around 6 hours and noticed no change. I'm wondering if it is the same as what was talked about in this thread

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/archi...t-1131480.html

- Uneven phosphor uniformity (this will dramatically improve with time)

- Uneven application of AR filter/residue on the inside of the screen (probably the most common causes, and sadly, there is no remedy short of a panel replacement)

Thanks for the heads up. What's the benefit of the C7900 over the C5900? Trying to decide if its worth bothering to upgrade it if they'll do it.

I am using the DCX3400 and have blinks. However others here have reported the blinks with other STBs from other providers, including DirecTv and FIOS.
