'BOARDWALK EMPIRE' on HBO HD - Page 29

I think Gyp Rosetti is gonna be kinda mad...I wonder who ordered the hit? Rothstein.

Nucky Thompson is slipping in all areas of his life.

Agent Weird's wife is crazier than him...looks likes Van Alden's about to go full Gangster....

Sure it was Rothstein.
Unfortunately, it was half-baked scheme.

ONE guy against 4 or 5 armed gangsters holed in their own fortress?rolleyes.gif
NO frickin' way that was gonna work.
When you are trying to kill a handful of baddies, you come with Thor's hammer....you don't frick around.wink.gif

He has been trying to get away from his previous life, but it isn't gonna work.

FINALLY he put Margaret on notice; that situation can't go on indefinitely.

Yeah, only Rothstein saw the paper delivery boy.

While I agree the hit on Rosetti wasn't well planned, Rosetti had still better head for the hills.

Clearly Rothstein was involved and/or checked off on the attempt. Since Rosetti works for Joe Masseria, its hard to imagine Rothstein wouldn't have cleared the deal with Masseria first. Rothstein doesn't want trouble with Masseria, so if he hadn't consulted with Masseria you would think the attempt would be much less obvious. Food poisoning or a car accident for instance.

I don't follow the leaning on Eddie Cantor. Wouldn't it have made more sense for Nucky to have made an offer the producers of the other show couldn't refuse? Maybe its just me, but I felt that Nucky really liked Eddie so squeezing the competing producers would have made more sense.

Eddie OWED Nuck....it made sense he would try to collect on the debt.

Could Nucky have okayed or ordered the hit?

I'm sure that Rosetti will retaliate.

Nucky is blinded by his insecurities for his new mistress...poor Eddie.

With the hearings in Washington and pressure to arrest a bootlegger to show the US Atty General is not on the take, Rosetti would seem to be a perfect person to be set-up for a high profile arrest. If he survives the next episode that is. As for the attempt on Rosetti's life, is the young kid that did it Bugsy Seigel? If my gangster history is correct, Bugsy was associated with Meyer Lansky and Lucky Luciano in real life. Great suprise to me when Sigrid (Van Alden's wife) whacked the Fed. She is perfect for Van Alden.

Rothstein's' eyes got wide when Roseti told the paper delivery boy his address - it was definitely Rothstein who ordered the hit.

Spot on, checked IMDB and the character is listed as Ben Siegel. Jeesh, he even capped that poor paperboy on they way out and then cackled gleefully! It certainly was Rothstein's doing, Nucky's right hand man brought him the news at the theatre with opening statement that he just heard from Rothstein, four fatalities but none of them Rosetti.

I thought it was clear when Nuck's Irish right-hand man made a comment earlier about not liking that the matter was out of their hands. They were forced to sit on their hands and wait to find out the success of Rothstein's solution to the problem.

Rothstein recognized the opportunity, but was it he or Nucky that actually ordered it? Or was it something that they came up with together during their meeting in NYC and it was decided that Rothstein (and his people) would be best suited to carry it out? At any rate, Nucky was well aware it was going down.

And if you thought Rosetti was crazed before... eek.gif

Per HBO's 'Inside The Episode' recap , Since Nucky couldn't get the job done, it was Rothstein taking charge and attempting to show him how to take care of business.

Actually, that's a heck of an idea. Harrow's proper training is as a sniper, that's where he's done the bulk of his killing. 3-4 guys with pistols standing around your doorway can't save you from a sniper located a few hundred yards away.

I'm probably in the minority, but I wish this season had

More:

Eli Thompson

Richard Harrow

Al Capone

Less:

Nucky with Girlfriend

Margaret and her women's health crusade

I love Nucky, but his relationships are a real snoozefest.

^^^
I agree, although Margaret and her doctor pal might soon become an item.

Doubt that will increase the interest at all.

The health class is really getting far too much time for my interest.  I understand the need for back stories and relationships to flesh out a character, but some of this is really dragging the episode down.  You can't expect a shootout at every turn, but the wheeling and dealing, political fighting and business issues are far more interesting than Nucky moping around about his personal life and Margaret going on...and on...and on...about the clinic and the hospital.  Even if they are leading up to an affair with the doctor, get it moving.  If I have to watch that Nun see there and pass judgment much longer...

More Nelson Van Alden, less Health Clinic.

I liked the homage to Taxi Driver in the final scene.
