I played a movie on the USB input last night and experienced a serious issue with audio sync, specifically audio lagging the video. Everything starts fine - the movie begins with audio and video in sync. However, as the movie plays the audio very slowly starts to lag the video. The audio lag gets progressively worse the longer the movie plays. About one hour into a two hour movie the audio lag is definitely noticeable and very distracting. Even my son said "it is lagging".

What have others experienced? What has LG done to solve this issue?

My SFTA attempts have failed. Is there consensus on best picture settings for the LG 32LE5400 yet?

Thanks.

Just got a new software update a little while ago on my 42LE5400. Went from version 6.0 to 8.0. The Netcast icons look a little different & the Netflix interface has been totally revamped. I am now able to add movies to my instant queue directly from the tv instead of havin to do it online on Netflix. Only thing I dont like is that when starting a Netflix movie it no longer shows the quality bars when the movie is downloading so I cant tell if I have HD quality or not.

How did you "get" the update? Did it come over the air, or...?

(editor note, ha! I was still thinking of how my TVGOS worked on my old set... nevermind.... funny though...)
No I manually looked for it & it said it had a new version to download.
I got the update, when I clicked on the Netcast button on my remote.

Hey guys,

I have the 42LE5400, and my HD channels seem more pixelated that before. Would this be due to the HDMI cable, COMCAST itself, the cable box, or just the tv itself?

This new firmware is causing some of us to end up with bricked TV's. Check this thread for more info or if you have run into this problem after updating your firmware to 08.x.x. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...php?p=19322708

Yep, I hate this part of the new update.

If you can't tell if you're watching HD or not....then why buy a HD TV..?

I bought the 32' version of this TV few days back and wanted to connect my 2.1 External Laptop speakers to it. I read it on the internet that "2 x RCA Male / 1 x 3.5mm Stereo Female, Y-Cable, 6 inch" will do the trick but noticed that the TV has only one digital output. Moreover after plugging the speaker set to the headphone jack doesnt deliver the right sound.

Can anyone suggest me any alternative to achieve this OR if not a decent external speaker which will go with this TV?

TIA

Why don't you just audition some sound bars if your not in the market for true SS. PC Speakers aren't going to be much better than what's on the TV already BTW.

Hi

I somehow managed to successfully update the firmware of my LG 47LE5400, but noticed that the upnp isn't working now... I use Playback on a mac to share media on a bunch of external drives and I can now navigate through the drives but get an invalid file type every time I try to play a video. This worked fine up until the moment I upgraded.

Surprisingly I am also running vuze on my mac, and its server works just fine, but does not allow access to non-vuze content. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this? The TV is useless to me if I can't access my content, especially since I rarely watch OTA stuff.

Based on the "I bricked my set!" thread mentioned a few posts back, it looks like most people having problems with the 08.xx firmware update own xxlE8500 sets.

I have a 47LE5400, updated from 06.02.01 to 08.00.02 last night, no issues. The netflix search capability is handy. If you own an xxLE5400, I *think* it's safe to perform the update. (note, your mileage may vary, no guarantees, run at your own risk, batteries not included, etc).

I don't use upnp, so I can't comment on the previous post, sorry....

I registered my TV immediately when I bought it in case I would have to use the 1 year manufacturer's warranty. I contacted LG via email and their responses were fast which is good. I requested a technician coming out and they were going to send one but all the available times were during my work hours. As a result, they gave me the numbers for a few local TV shops that could be more flexible with times and I got in contact with one that could send a technician early in the morning. The TV place wanted to know more about my issue, like the make and model of my DVD player, etc. They then contacted LG who told them my issue is a DVD player issue, not a TV issue, and that I should read my DVD player manual since it should list a solution. This doesn't make any sense to me since I never experienced lip sync issues when I used the exact same DVD play on my last TV (a plasma). Also, LGs are notorious for lip sync issues...

Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and get a Blu-ray player now. I've been reading a LOT of complaints with people having Blu-ray issues with their LG5400s so my logic is I should hook one up now and get any problems fixed within my one year warranty.

Love the set otherwise. Hope this doesn't become a bigger pain...

I found some settings for a 32LE5400 that I wanted to try with my 5300. I can change all of the settings except the IRE Adjust Points R,G,B.

How do I get to those in the menu so I can change them?

Thanks

Herman

There was a question about this a few posts back, I think you have to set the IRE setting to 90, then 80, then 70 etc and then switch the R,G,B each time you change the IRE setting. all the settings should save once you are done and viola you've done it!

So how many 5400 users have had a problem with the software update? The 5500 and 8500 users are beside themselves with fried TVs; I have not seen anyone on this thread with the problem yet. I'd love the new Netflix but am now sufficiently freaked out to try the update. Can't seem to tell if it is a "going from version 5 to version 8" issue, or what, and LG is useless as far as information.

Anybody have anything to offer? What versions did you upgrade from? Did you do it with a wired or wireless connection? Etc. Thanks for any input.
42LE5400 owner here: went from 6.x to 8.0 firmware with no issues at all. Used a wired connection as well.

32LE5400 owner here that upgraded from 6.0 to 8.0 successfully.
No problem with the update here either...(42LE5400). I did use a wired ethernet connection.

By the way, I just finished wall-mounting with an ultra-slim mount from Monoprice. It looks awesome! However, the only rear-facing connection I was able to use was the ethernet. It's so tight to the wall, I had to use the side HDMI (Input4) connection. Luckily I only have need for one HDMI connection at this point.

After updating to 8.00.02 I'm unable to play most of my mkv files via a wired DLNA connection. I can see the files but when I access them I receive this message "This file is invaild" I was able to view these files before the update.

Is any one else having this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks
I can confirm that on my 32LE5400 the DLNA connection playback is now broken. It worked correctly on version 6.xx.

HELP!!
Okay after wasting most of Saturday, here is what I can share.

After updating to 8.00.02 most MKV files can not be played via DLNA Twonky and Nero.

I tried Tversity Free Edition and now I can play most of my MKV files. I still plan on contacting LG support on Monday to see what the deal is.

Saw a press release this morning saying 1080i & 5.1 surround is coming soon from Netflix but it's starting out on the PS3. Not sure when it's coming to LG. Hopefully soon.

Dear All,

Today i.e 19-Oct 2010 @ around 10:46 PM CST i started the Netcast it asked me that new Update is available would like to install, & i said yes it changed the version from 08.00.02 to Ver 08.00.05 but for me i have not noticed any change on TV, Actually i was expecting they include Cinema Now, Skype and other apps on the Netcast, As few days back i had chat with LG support on having Facebook,Skype, Cinema now and they said team is working on it will update the firmware but the date are not fixed for the same. So friends we all should wait & demand for all other apps by talking to there chat Support /email/Call Support.
