Mirage BPS-400. Mega Paperweight?

Well the amp in the BPS is blown. Took it to an audio engineer at MIT and he couldnt help me fix the amp without a schematic. Does anyone have suggestions for what i could do with the enclosure and two drivers? I really dont want to just throw it away, or give it away on craigslist. Nor do i want to buy a new sub. Too bad Mirage doesnt support it anymore.

maybe you could buy a bash amp from parts express and replace the blown amp??

Here's what I would do.

Replace the plate amp. You would need one the same size or bigger.
You could make the hole bigger but not smaller.

Hmm true. I just wonder size the stock amp is set up for bi-polar is a regular bash plate amp from parts express will even work.

Sorry to hear about this. I'm a Mirage BPS-400 owner too! What caused your amp to blow? Maybe try searching in google for Mirage BPS-400 schematic and see what comes up.

This is kind of old but.... I think I just picked up this sub from the guy who originally posted this message. - I'll tear into it over the next day or so and see what can be done. I'm hoping that the amp can be repaired or replaced. I was able to dig up some data ( not a full schematic but something that might help a tech) . I also got the name of a repair center that is supposed to be the one that Klipsch uses as Mirage's main repair facility. We'll see what happens.

The BPS-400 is nothing short of a MONSTER in size and weight. While I'm certain that technology has moved far beyond what this thing can do. I still want to hear it and it would be worth it to invest a little to get to hear what this thing sounds like. It's supposed to rival the M&K MX-5000 which still has solid resale value and is highly coveted by fans of the M&K brand.

The thread is pretty old but maybe someone has actually done an amp transplant in the BPS-400 or perhaps found a cure for the symptoms that the original owner had described? Definitely let me know.

Contact David sarge in state college pa. I bet you could mail him your amp he could repair it. He's the best I know and reasonable priced.

Did you ever get your amp fixed? I'd be interested in buying it off you even if it's broken, I need a part from it.

forgot all about this thread. I unearthed the sub from my storage space which is where it's been since I originally posted and just revisited the issue it's having. Amp is working, the drivers?.... not so much they need to be re-coned. unless I can find a set of original replacements.

Once it's back up and running the BPS 400 will take residence in my basement as part of my workshop music system. Glad I didn't pitch it. it's a beast of a sub.

If anyone here has a pair of the original drivers they want to sell. drop me a line.
