HD65 - 480i, connect through receiver. What am I doing wrong?

I believe this HD65 projector is capable of running at 720p/i, am i doing something wrong here when I connect it through the receiver (Denon) and have the component switching?

All I have right now is just the Normal DVD Player with Denon Receiver and a Projector. So Projector is connected with Component, and go through receiver for switching purposes.

My plan us to have ps3 and direct tv hooked up to receiver and have it switched via component connections. When you say have it feed to HD source, ? Can you be more specific?

your regular dvd player is not outputting an hd signal unless it is an upconverting which more than likely will not upconvert over component. PS3 will output hd so you should be ok there ,but if you dont have hd cable box your not gonna get hd from that. you also need to see what resolutions are supported over component to that pj. any reason youre not using hdmi?

which denon receiver it may upconvert sources, still not gonna look as good as true hd source.

I have Denon 3805. It does not have HDMI.
So really, am i losing HD source because of HDMI?
upconvert dvd player needs HDMI to get hd source right? How about PS3?

What is the best way without having to change out the receiver?

I have the HD65 and a Denon 3805. I run my HDMI directly from my directTV box and my upconverting DVD player to a $15 switcher (parts express, I think, 2 years old), then one HDMI (monoprice, 30 feet, low $$) from the switcher to the HD65.

DVD player is outputting 1080p, Directtv box outputting 720p or 1080i, or maybe it's output varies depending on the channel - can't remember what I settled on.

You can't get HD from most sources if you are using component.

Feel free to PM me for more questions about the 3805. I'm no expert, but I like mine alot and have had it for 5 years now.
