will give you some information about performance, cost and the value of lower priced vs. higher priced cables. In summary, HDMI cables under 15 ft. should be able to handle pretty much any signal that you throw at them, and some of the lower priced cables may outperform cables that are an order of magnitude higher in cost.
As to your current cables, if they've been doing fine with your current setup, I see no reason why that can't continue. If you upgrade to something that may require more bandwidth, I'd do a little research to see if, say 3D will require upgrading.
I just bought some new monoprice HDMI cables (ran out of cables, a victim of upgradeitis), and took the opportunity to spend the extra $1 for high speed vs. standard HDMI cables. I'm not looking to upgrade my existing, though.
