what happens with other connections isn't relevant, and fwiw, you would "upconvert" (actually "transcode") from composite to component...

I never said you were wrong

"But you are probably talking HDMI to Comp."

Instead of "Not really", I should have said "To bad, because..."

What I was talking about was that my AVR will take a component signal send it out to composite, I know the other was is up converting.

Can you apply dolby prologic 2x to bitstream hd audio or does it also need to be pcm?

I went to go turn on the Sub Plus setting, and under manual speaker settings, it does not show up? Is this becasue I ran the auto setup?

Hi Thunderplains, are the speakers set to small?

no, auto setup won't force defeat of plus...

what's the rest of your settings? speaker "size", sub, xover setting, etc. that will help point us in the right direction....

Are you referring to the Hdmi1 issue?
I have a 93 inbound, but have been watching this problem very closely.

That's one. I've got another with streaming Netflix. The receiver is cycling on and off.

Oppos quick fix for us (for now) is to run the 93's Hdmi1 direct to the monitor and use its Hdmi2 for audio. This will take the conflict with the 1120s processing (and other Pioneers) out of the mix.

Quick question-- I am trying to run video and audio from my PC to the 1120. My PC has optical out and DBI out, but no HDMI. I'm currently running the DVI into my TV's HDMI port and the optical audio into the 1120. But I'd like to run everything into the receiver-- is there a way to set the HDMI input to pipe audio from the optical? The selection for digital audio is greyed out in the menu.

I'm running a Radeon x1950 pro, which is a decent card for what I do (HD video and some light gaming), but I could always upgrade that to a cheap card w/HDMI out. I have a 5870 in my office machine, so no desire to spend big $$ for a high-end card.

yes...

- assign the hdmi input you want to use to an unused input.

- assign an optical port to that same input.

- use the "signal select" option on the remote (sigsel) to tell the avr to get the audio from the optical input instead of the hdmi input...

Will I have to do that every time I use the computer, or can I fix those options to the input?

Can anyone here tell me what the major differences are between your model and this one:http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...ac58b4aa26en02

I recently just got a seasonal job at FutureShop (Best Buy Canada), and am seriously considering upgrading from my Yamaha HTR-5560 to something with TruHD and DTS HD-MA, and 7.1 etc. etc. I really like the looks (and sound) of the Pioneers we carry. Thanks in advance!

nope, once you initially set it up that way, it will stay that way...

The 1125 is the FutureShop exclusive version of the 1120. It's the same unit.

If you can apply dolby prologic IIx to hd audio bitstreamed.

Previously on the last page someone asked why he cant apply thx surround ext to dts master audio when its being bitstreamed and the answer was no, it only works when the 1120 is accepting pcm. So i am asking if you can apply dolby pro logic IIx to bitstreamed hd audio, or will it only apply it to pcm?

There are several posts here with conflicting information on the potential for firmware updates via USB.

Some folks say it's possible, other say they actually talked to Pioneer and they've been told it's not possible to do it yourself. There's no way I want to buy a receiver that would require to go somewhere to install firmware.

In this day and age it seems there are issues and updates that are likely to have to be done at some point.

I called pioneer today and couldn't get a straight answer for the life of me. She claimed that some updates require hardware updates and that would require a visit but that you could update the firmware. She had no credibility, the concept that pioneer would mess with the physical hardware seems out of this world (short of a recall of course).

How many surrounds, 2 or 4?

Is there a way to balance the input levels from the various audio sources?

For example, the "Internet Radio" input produces far more volume than listening to the same stations from the "Tuner" input. So I'd like to be able to attenuate the "Internet Radio" input so it matches the "Tuner" input.

I've search through the manual and can't find an answer. Thanks.

In a 5.1 setup, those are not "rears," they're "sides" -- so, just reconnect them in the correct ports, and re-run MCACC.

"Rears" are only added in a 6.1 or 7.1 setup...

Connect them to the Left and Right "Surround" connections, NOT the "Surround Back" connections.

The "back" (or "rear") speakers only come into play in a 7.1 setup.

Btw, your current surrounds should be located to the side of the primary seat, not behind...
