Is anyone else getting Disconnects when using the Ipod connection, it will freeze up and lose the connection and I have to reboot the Ipod in order to restart.
It occurs randomly, sometimes after a couple of songs other times after an hour of listening. Im trying to figure out if its my Ipod or the 1120?

Thanx

I hooked up new Pioneer VSX-1120-K to Verizon FIOS box and Sharp Aquos LC-52D64U. HDMI passthru does not work. A/V reviver powers ON/OFF when FIOS box is turned on/off using FIOS box remote. If I power off AV reciver, both Audio and Video are cut off from TV. I have updated sharp TV firmware with the latest version.

I wonder if anyone has successfully used passthru feature on VSX-1120-K.

Thanks

Wife and daughter use it all the time.
They don't want to learn how to use the receiver so they just use the TV speakers and leave the receiver off.

Does the VSX-1120-K revert back to the 'as delivered' internet radio station settings when it loses power?

I unplugged my receiver 2 days ago due to a possible thunderstorm coming through. Just plugged it back in, logged into the receiver remotely over the network and don't see the radio stations I set up last weekend.

Just 5.1 for now, but I do have two more shiny new ERD-1s sitting in a closet waiting for the room to get remodeled next Spring.

I got a seiki BD660 for rock bottom price for of 40$. Got it of craigslist but walmart Canada has promo on it for while for 49$. It works surprisingly well and I can't tell the difference in the picture quality between this and PS3. The load speed is fast as well. I use my xbox to stream stuff but apparently you can use the USB to play stuff off you flash and HD drives.

Kewl I know people here will convince you its better to have good 5.1 setup rather than average 7.1 but I somehow enjoy it more as I find it more immersive.

Only 5.1 for now. Not likely to get rear surrounds as I'm sitting only a foot away from the rear wall.

THX Cinema here as well. 5.1 and in the same boat as leadfoot24 (too close to rear wall).

Hey guys, I just received my VSX-1120 two days ago, this is my first Pioneer receiver and I am having some trouble with the set up, I have a old blu ray player, its a Sony BDP-S350 and when its plugged to the receiver I got no picture or sound,my HDMI cables work properly so that is out, I have tried switching the HDMI inputs on the receiver with no luck, I really run out of ideas hope any of you guys with more experience with this unit have a solution to my problem

Just picked up a new PS3 and wondering if anyone figured out the right code to use the 1120 remote to control the dvd/blue ray functions of the PS3 so you don't need to purchase the optional remote for the PS3.

Thanks

^^^

you can't... the ps3 remote is rf based, not ir based... that's why you need to buy either the ps3 remote or buy one of the adaptors (like the harmony one, or others) that will convert ir from your existing remote to rf for the ps3...

Thanks, okay next question how do you setup the PS3 to bitstream? I read that the slim will do it but I don't see in the settings how to. I see auto or manual and when I go into manual, I see a ton of options there but no bitstream. What is the best option to select?

Thanks!

Well Actually I thought that PS3 remote was blutooth. A cheap alternate is the Nyko Blu Wave remote which gives you an USB IR blaster that lets you control PS3 functions. Only downside is that you can't turn PS3 on with or need to program a macro to let you turn it off.

Have you changed the settings on your Pio for input setup to make sure HDMI is selected for the input you are using to watch Blu Ray?

Make sure it's off and try again...

The THX modes apply additional EQ/Processing, just try them and see what you like best, fyi most people seam to prefer THX Cinema.

I just purchased this receiver and was curious to what gauge wiring ya'll recommend to use with this receiver, 12 or 14 gauge speaker wire? And are banana plugs the defacto fool proof plug to bare wire nowadays?

I am trying to get my Mitsubishi WD-65638 DLP working with my Mitsubishi 3DC-1000 starter kit to display 3D from my Comcast cable box (Motorola DCX3400) through my 1120. If I manually force the cable box to 1080i and connect it directly to the 3D adapter, it seems to work fine. But, when I connect through the receiver, the TV and the adapter seem to not get along and I cannot get a picture on the TV. The weird part is that I get occasional sound, mostly a black screen that says Invalid Format and every once in a while I get an all green screen that quickly goes back to black. I have even seen an occasional blue screen that gives some message about the HDMI signal being corrupt or something, but that goes away before I even get a chance to read it.

The initial reaction was that the receiver does not support HDMI 1.4a (even though it says it does) and that is the problem. The weird part is that I have my PS3 routed through the receiver and I can watch 3D movies from it with no problems at all. I have posted something on the Comcast 3D forum to see if anyone else has seen this, but I figured I would ask here in case someone knows if something in the 1120 might be causing issues. I tried using the exact same HDMI cables that I am using for the PS3, so I don't think the issue is a cable that does not support the bandwidth.

Any ideas? I have tried everything I can think of and have spoken with 3 different Comcast technical support CSRs who were no help at all. Could the 1120 maybe be doing something with the signal from the cable box that it wouldn't be doing with the signal from the PS3? Do I need to turn off HDMI control or something else?

Thanks,
Shane

Ive been using my Optimum/Cablevision remote to change the volume on receiver (it worked automatically out of the box) but after playing around in the Pioneer 1120's menus the remote starting changing the volume on the tv. Anyone have an idea of how to have my cable remote start talking to the reciever's volume again. Silly question perhaps, please help! (Merry christmas to those who celebrate).

Scratch last question, figured it out.

Next question! I have a Panadonic 3D Blu-ray player set up via HDMI. I need something to play CDs. But, I don't want to have to turn tv just to listen though blu-ray.

Is there any way around this? I would love a way to just throw in a cd listen through receiver.

Thank you so much please forgive if totally ridiculous question.

Are you using a harmony remote to control your system?
If not just don't turn on your TV and the Music will play through the other two components i.e. You Pio and Blu Ray Player.
If you are using a harmony remote just add an activity for listening to music that does't include your TV.

Are HDMI 1.4 cables necessary for HDMI pass through to work? I cant get it to work with my set-up....Samsung 58C590 Plasma and a Motorola FiOs STB... HDMI control is on and Samsung's AnyNet is also on...the tv remote does control the AVRs volume and shuts both the TV and AVR off but no StandBy PassThrough... Any suggestions?

With my 1120 now on hand, I find I am in the unfortunate ?majority? who don't have working standby passthru. For those who have it working, what cable/sat boxes do you have? What TV? (mine are Comcast/Cisco RNG 200 and 1 yr old Samsung 55B640)
I'm not going to replace the tv to make up for the 1120's lack, so am hoping that perhaps a different cable box would suffice.
If it truly is a majority, this is a major issue, so there is some hope that Pioneer will fix it in a firmware update, but I don't want to bet on it.

thanks,
V

From what I have read, both the TV and the cable box must be HDMI CEC compatible for the pass-through to work. I do not know this from personal experience though as I'm still researching which receiver to buy.
