Pioneer VSX-1120 TXH HDMI V1.4 Receiver Owners' Thread - Page 3

As soon as Robert from Value Electronics gets his first shipment of 1120s in im placing my order. Cant wait to replace my old Onkyo Reciever that recently has been shutting off during loud scenes of a movie. Its had its go for 4 years but its days are numbered. I hope the 1120 is everything that its suppose to be! Im confident it will. This will be my first step to making my home theater 3D. In about two years, or until Panasonic gets Kuro like blacks, im gonna splurge on a 65in.

Turned HDMI control on in the reciever, didn't do anything. Don't see anything about kurolink. I use a front projector, which is Pioneer, but it's really a rebadged JVC RS2, so no options like that.

Ordered mine today... I'm psyched!

Now, if I could just find a damn black Polk CS2 speaker (old series) to match my monitor 70's... uhg!

Yep, the reciever is where that option is. Turned control back on, and nothing. Except it caused me to have to reassign the inputs again. Really retarded feature, whatever it does.

i think you need a pioneer kuro for the volume display...Or am i mistaken?

Still no "pro" reviews of this? Amazon and some others still show as "not yet released." I would have thought there would be a lot of buzz/reviews of the high end of Pio's consumer line. I wonder what's up?

I'm waiting for the VSX-32 myself (I liked the 1120 but I wanted to be able to use the 12V triggers), but the 1120 just started shipping to consumers, distributors, and possibly reviewers in the past week That means you'd still need to allow a few weeks for a reviewer to have the component in their system, to write the review, editing, and then publication.

Products that have reviews come out the day they are released have had early copies go out weeks ahead of time so get those reviews ready, but for products like this, which seems to be shipping out as soon as the factory can finish them, there likely were no early units that went out to anyone.

Can someone tell me if you can do 9.1 either as is or with an external amplifier. A link to the manual would also be appreciated.

depends on the flavor and implementation... the one in my sc-09 didn't suck... imo, that was better than the reon in my current integra 9.9, and overall equivalent to the abt solution in my oppo bdp...

ymmv... you really can't go wrong with any of the sota chips these days... all of them are quite good (assuming the cem doesn't muck up the implementation)....

so the only way to have on screen volume display is to own a pioneer kuro (or other pio tv)? am i understanding this right?

Does anyone think this unit would have trouble powering 4 ohm surround speakers?

I'm considering grabbing a pair of the ERD-1 Dipole/Bipole speakers to complete a 5.1 setup, but I'm not sure about the 4 ohm issue...

This the 1st reciever I've had that handles all the new audio codecs. That said, when I play a 5.1 LPCM track, it shows as Dolby Digital on the display.... is it supposed to do that?
