Dish Network 3D?

Is Dish ever going to announce 3D? does anyone know anything?
I've emailed that question several times before chats and have received no response. My guess is 3D yes...someday; but probably not before this Fall. I'll keep bugging them with emails before chats. At some point, like this Fall, I'd consider dropping Dish for Direct TV, though I've been a Dish subscriber since '97. I'd wait 'til I actually get a 3D display before I pull that trigger.

I did an online chat with a DISH rep yesterday concerning 3D. He stated that several 3D channels are in the works and will be available by this Fall.

I am so close to taking a loss and switching to dtv as I just Re-signed up in October (2 yr contract to get better pricing) because of their lack of official announcements on 3d. Every major provider has said something except dish. Truly sad as I have also been a long time customer.

Well. I just recently got a vip 922sling loaded dvr so i am not swithching i. Also have a vip 722 i wish i could see some of the world cup in 3d. I have the right equipment but not the right carrier as a source yet. I am still crossing my fin
gers because the 11th is. Not here yet.

Some where on this site: http://www.satelliteguys.us/ I read that the VIP922 was 3d ready, but I don't get much love when I breach the topic.

I HOPE SO.

Stupid article since to receive 3D content from a broadcaster you certainly do not need a new 3D blu-ray disk player.

Hmmmm. This is the first I've heard about DISH signing on. I'll have to check on this.

I believe that info is incorrect regarding Dish Network.

The only carriers I'm aware of are Comcast, DirecTV, AT&T U-verse.

Dish and ESPN are currently in a legal dispute, so it is highly unlikely they'll add the channel until the issue is resolved.

I hate dish now and I used to love them. All because they are going to be the losers of 3d... Wish I hadn't re/signed for new equipment. Still in a couple of months I think I will take the loss and switch to direct.
I'll just turn on the 2d to 3d conversion on my set for now. Maybe not quite as good but full resolution.
Hmm, I dont know about full resolution. I tried the 2D>3D on Planet earth and it definitely made the picture less sharp and clear. Looked a lot better with it off.
Somethings wrong, 2D to 3D looks good and sharp on my set. You sure you turned on the glasses?

try picture correction maybe it has been accidentally set.

nope, just not as sharp as with it 3D off.

Any word on Dish 3D?

I just lost my C band transmission so I had to choose dish network or direct TV. I think I am going for direct, reason; 3D, when dish network decide to get 3D, it will be too late, all of the others will be way ahead from them and they will never catch on. Sad

I recently purchased my 3D set-up and had to make the choice: stay with Cox cable or switch to Dish or DirecTV. After reviewing the options they were close--except for the 3D programming. I had DirecTV installed two weeks ago and I am loving it.

Just got a 55" Samsung 3d tv. and of course I have dishnetwork and no 3d channels. And to top that, my contract doesn't end for another year. I did a chat yesterday with customer service at dishnetwork regarding 3d and all they could say is that they are working at broadcasting in 3d, but I think they've been saying that since the spring. And still nothing.

How is the 3d quality with Direct TV?

Nothing to get excited about and there are some technical issues too. Mostly dinosaurs and PPV. A few IMAX titles that are worthy.
I read, as they say on another forum, that Dish is finishing up testing right now and will have 3D available for PPV sometime in December. I hope that is true.

About to cancel Dish - apart from other issues I've had with them, not happy that they don't carry 3D channels yet, like DirecTV does.

I don't think PPV only is going to do it for me....

Is there any news yet on having proper 3D channels on Dish, like DirecTV does?

I'm not happy either. Been with 'em 12+ years and really prefer their equipment but if they don't do something re. 3D by the time the snow is off my roof I'm gonna jump ship. My dish has to be roof-mounted for LOS. I'm not paying $200 up front & $4 MORE @ month (922) to be able to rent a 3D movie for $7.99.

As a Dish subscriber.... Well, the Disney hd thing is annoying, but the lack of 3d has me shopping alternatives to dish... I hope they step things up...
We're switching to AT&T Uverse, they have ESPN 3D and promise to have more in the future.
I'll be moving along as soon as my 2 year commitment is over on March 11th. Not sure where, don't like Comcast's equipment but do like there "on demand". If I could be sure Rupert Murdock wasn't coming back to DirecTV.... Those and Dish are my only options. COME ON CHARLEY!!!
I still have a year on my contract, so Dish has one year to get at least ESPN 3D and the upcoming Discovery 3D channel or I'm switching to D*.
