I wouldn't use a previous line that wasn't too popular as a test of their current quality. I will say my lamp in the HC5500 held up MUCH better than the lamp in my RS50. When I gave it to friend it had 2000 hours and still going strong.
The lack of panel adjustments and a broken CMS is a tough pill to swallow considering the street price.. but then again, so is a broken CMS and lamp issues in my RS50.
Mark - any chance you can grab some quick lumen readings? what size is your screen and the throw distance? thanks!
Any chance you consider replacing the Vango with the HC9000 or not a chance for 2D IQ?
I am really kind of tired and I just want to watch the Miami Dallas game tonight in 2D.
I really want a 3D projector as well as a great 2D projector. I have four projectors in house now. An RS40, the Vango, the Mits, and my beloved Samsung SP-A900B, my 2D sports champ. The only one I own is the Samsung and I will probably be selling it because its better to have something I can demo and sell. The RS40 is for a non AVS customer, The Mits is a review sample. The Vango is an extended loaner because I do sell them, a lot of them, and I consult on it. I am not going to try and borrow a Sharp. The installaion requirements just don't suit my rather extensive ability to test various projectors. The RDS40 will leave on Monday. The Mits needs to be returned. So I will still have the Vango and Samsung. The Vango just keeps on humming. Switch it on and it comes up quickly and no worries about lamp hours. Sharp. Maybe I will fire up the Samsung tonight. Its a tad sharper and thast is saying something.
My screen is 54 x 96, 1.3 gain Studiotec G2. I will grab some ANSI readings off the Mits but perhaps not tonight. I really didn't sleep much last night. Went to bed very late and got up at 5:30.
My wife now wants to look at houses in Ashville, NC instead of Florida. So the end of the month, a quick 9 hr drive to Ashville, 5 days of house looking, and then a quick 9 hours drive back. My wife is a Mahjong player and I asked the real estate agent if she could find her a game while we were down there. No problem. The agent plays herself and is taking my wife to her Thursday night game the weekend of the 4th. My wife was amazed I could do this and did this for her. If I were 30 years younger, I would be the recipient of some amazing stuff tonight. I just want to watch the game and catch a few zzzzzs.
Carry on guys. I'll be back tomorrow. And remember when you are ready to buy, give us a shot. We have lots of Canadian customers. And I might be able to swing a deal on my demo Mits. rather than sending it on its way back.
