**SOLVED** -- Wierd: 7MC vs WMP: ffdshow DXVA MKV subtitle issue

Wonder if anyone had same issue:

had ffdshow DXVA codec installed (ffdshow_rev3439_20100514_clsid) and set (with Win7DSFilterTweaker) as preferred codec for H.264 and VC1, mkv subtitles would play fine in WMP (12), and ffd DXVA tray icon would show up.

but subtitle doesn't seem working in media center (same file played in 7MC, no sub nor ffdshow tray icon would show)? I am sure it's still using the DXVA codec as my CPU can not handle the mkvs.

What gives? I thought if it's working in WMP it should do the same in 7MC?

(also installed is Haali media splitter and VSfilter), ffdshow is configed per this page: theHTPC.net

It is a h.264 file - you guys are probably right that ffdshow DXVA codec not being used in 7MC. What I don't quite get is Win7DSFilterTweaker does show ffdshow DXVA is preferred codec, and is working in WMP?

OK found the solution - the trick is to also desiable Microsoft codec from within Win7DSFilterTweaker:



Now MKV subs works in 7MC just like in WMP, ffdshow tray icon also shows up.

ya that's what I thought - so I was very puzzled when i saw everything working in WMP but not in 7MC...so in case someone running into same issue, they can try this route.
