which one throws better hd quality Casio XJ-A 240 or lg hx300. movies & games (ps3)

Casio XJ-A 240 for sure

You're comparing apples and oranges... the LG HX300 is considered a portable/hand carry projector while the Casio is considered a business/data projector. Although the Casio XJ-A240 is quite thin, small, and light itself it's aspect is 16:10 while the LG is only 4:3. The price ranges for the 2 projectors are different too. Of course, performance wise the Casio will win, but portability wise the LG would win. And on top of that, to add to the LG's advantage it has a USB port for quick and fast accessibility for data while the Casio does not. So really, you're comparing 2 very different projectors made and marketed for different usages/scenerios.

What do you exactly need this projector for should be the start of your thread.

I think then none of these should be your choice... the casio would be more fit since it has 16:10 aspect ratio, while LG has 4:3. LG has 2,000:1 contrast ratio while Casio has only 1,800:1. Both are not what you're looking for. If you're only going to use this for leisure (ie: games and DVD/blu ray, entertainment unit). Don't spend $1,000 on a semi-good projector. Go for Optoma HD20 or BenQ W1000 or Mitsubishi HC3800.

All these choices would be about the same price as the Casio but be a lot better. The only upper hand the Casio has on these other projectors is that it uses LED technology which would save you in the long run for bulb replacements. But it's up to you. Because the picture quality on the Casio will definately not fall even WITHIN par with these Home Theater projectors.

However, if you might use this projector at the same time for business presentations and what not then the Casio might fit your needs. Otherwise I don't even know why you looked at this projector. That Casio isn't even for Home Theater. Check out the Optoma, BenQ, and Mitsubishi I recommended you. They are definately better!
