Help - warranty - replace Samsung LN46A850 with LN46C610 ?

I just got this TV from BJ's over the weekend. Havent played with it much but it looks real nice right out of the box. I plugged my linksys usb wireless adapter and was able to watch movies right off my laptop wirelessly. Pretty cool feature. Having looked at the c630 and c650 on amazon, it showed the 610 has basically the same specs as the 630 and same finish as the 650. Im not a tv snob but I did do some research here and in store and really like this tv.

Spec-wise, they are just about the same, with a few new features added in. However, your A850 had an Ultra Clear Panel, Samsung's term for glossy screen. The C610s and the smaller than 55" C630's do not have UCP, but have a semi-matte screen. Go look at them somewhere if you think screen finish will make a difference to you. Good luck.

Take a look at the warranty you purchased. Does it state replacment based on features or value ? Looking at the price difference between sets, I would argue it is not of equal value. In 1 1/2 years the value of the tv wouldn't have depreciated by that much. I would probably try to get a C6000 or C7000 series as a replacement.

I'd hold out for the 650 based on the UCP. Who's the retailer, or is it an independent warranty company?

I personally like the UHP on my 52A860 and would argue for a C650, or, for a 55C630 which also has a UHP (not the smaller sizes, though) even if the 55C630 spec page on the website still doesn't list it. Tell them you like the UHP that provides the famous Samsung "pop" that makes the picture gorgeous.

I did just spot another difference on the C610 specs and the pdf specsheet... there don't seem to be any "component" connections, only 2 A/V (composite) connections. Those could be component enabled, however, so you'll have to download the manual and see if that's the case. If they're not, you could claim lack of UHP and component inputs to bolster your argument... especially if you have a DVD player connected via component.

yeah you need a 650 not a 630! or maybe a 670 since stores that sell those 610's instead of 630's never have 650s for the msot part but do have 670's

I think you will like it. I have an A650 (two years old) and a B650 (one year old) and they are both great TVs. Hopefully, the C650 will uphold that legacy.

Good for you. And I'm glad you up-sized to 55". You won't regret it.

At the time you bought your A850 it was top of the line TV. Only A950 was better.
I don't understand why you had to settle for 6 series,which is two notches lower than 8 series.

If i were you I would contact Samsung and state my point in this replacement process.

You should get at least C8000.

Agreed, I have a A850 with the extended warranty. Other AVS members have got the C8000 as a replacement.

Then again, maybe its a U.S. policy.
