I hope there is an actual hardware difference between this and the "live" or there will be a lot of angry people here....
Latter. Scott_WD hinted Netflix would be added to the existing Live at one point, but it looks like they're going to force people to buy new boxes just to get this. Not me.

I feel even better about returning mine on Monday.

Until somebody verifies this, its just hearsay.....

I just ordered one.

And history repeats itself again...

Ahhh Mann, I have to buy another one. Looks like the kids get there own this time. Too bad they couldn't make one with a TV Tuner and PVR capabilities. That would be killer.
Amazon has it listed for $125.43

I am going to go with the negative crowd on this one. I don't think people should have to keep buying the same device over and over again.

If you people are pissed then you need to put your foot down and not buy another media box until one comes out that runs Boxee or XBMC.

I have the WDTV Live (2nd Generation) in my theater and the WDTV (1st Generation) in my living room which I'll give to my parents and buy the new one.
I'm surprised there's not a lot of anger in this thread. I didn't expect a willingness to just buy another one.

Chalk a win up for WD management. They are looking at this thread right now "See, I told you they would buy it"....

Indeed. They beat Popbox and Boxee Box to market with a feature set that people have been waiting for for months. WD Management FTW.

And made them buy the same box twice in the past 12 months. It's genius on all levels.

"Made" them? Let's not get too melodramatic, shall we? They produced the box that everyone has been waiting for, and without vaporware. Good on them for producing two different boxes that people want to buy within twelve months.

No need to, since I've already ordered one. You see, they produced a product that I wanted to buy, and I bought it. Wow, what a concept.

As I said, as long as people like you buy both boxes it's genius on their part.

Really? Good on them for artificially creating a premature obsolescence that contributes to landfills full of the toxic materials in the WD box?

Yea, f*ck the environment. Good on WD for making money, that's all that matters.

Maybe WD can have a busted oil well in the Gulf next and we can all praise them for another good business move...

Sorry to disappoint you, but I didn't buy both boxes.

Good grief. Thanks for dialing back the melodrama.

I'm waiting for the WD Live Double Plus, probably out by the holiday season.

There's still time.

Seriously netflix is more important than support for TrueHD and DTS-MA? I still think the best buy for a budget player is the refurbished A110...

No. Thank you for praising the ridiculous customer-screwing-moves of an ignorant corporation...
Un-****ing-believeable. So I have to buy the new one just to get netflix and dvd navigation? GFY Western Digital. GFY.

WDTV Live will be the last Western Digital product I buy. And I've been a loyal customer for years...

Is there anything new hardware wise? So basically it's just a $125 dollar firmware update, correct?
Personally, I'll do like others, buy the new one and donate the Live to family members.
