so far, it is ok in the value it provides.
I've tested streaming mkv's and avi's from network shares and DLNA server and they play fine.
i've streamed some .mov's shot with iphone 4 and they are ok as well.
now, to my main point.
I'm at a point where I need to start ripping close to 100 owned sd dvd's and dump them on my synology NAS for it to be streamed by live plus.
from what we know so far about live plus, how should I rip these for maximum quality/viewing pleasure?
I would be using a macbook pro for ripping, so any software suggestions? I'm a complete newbie when it comes to ripping dvd's and video/audio codecs.
also, my HT is strictly 5.1 dolby, so how should I rip the dvd's so I can get atleast 5.1 audio from my receiver? (assuming this is possible)
I have the live plus 100Mbps ethernet wired into my router and the synology is also hard wired into the same router.
The plus connects to my pana 50px75u via hdmi for video only and connects to my yamaha HT receiver via optical out for audio.
I read all the pages of this long thread and countless other threads on this forum.
at this point, before taking a major undertaking, I just want to rip once and do it the right way with all this hardware I have.
thanks for any/all suggestions!

I use several different ripping utilities but my favorite is Mac DVDRipper Pro. I prefer to rip ISO's which give me full access to all normal features the DVD's have like sound options, etc. Rip's ISO's in 15 to 25 minutes on a 4 year old iMac.
