I'm not seeing that. Even if one title isn't bringing in CoD sales, the variety of supported fighting games worldwide is probably bigger than ever. Fighting game tournies show this to be so, as they are hugely popular and often offer thousands of dollars to the best players who win the big ones.
As for individual games, Street Fighter 4 was and continues to be really big, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is doing well, the future Tekken Tag Tourney 2 has a strong buzz as does the SFvTekken & TekkenvSF crossover titles. This new Mortal Kombat is getting some good praise as well.
Even if some players grow out of fighting games, they are always replaced by new ones who grow into them. The popularity of fighting one-on-one will have ebbs and flows like any genre, but these type of titles will still be strongly supported as long as gaming is around. It's like saying people will grow tired of football games. Fighting 1v1 is simply another competitive "sport".
