Amateur 3D videographer distribution medium?

Recently I started shooting 3D videos using a home built two camera rig.
I have been pretty happy with the results and have even had success creating a BluRay disc with a 3D menu including a 3D video background with 3D video thumbnails. So far I have been coding them as side by side but can also code them as top and bottom.
One of the cool things about this is that they can be played on any BluRay player. The only problem is that the 3D TV has to be manually put in the correct 3D format since auto switching is not supported.
I am not aware of anyone else doing this and am curious as to the legal implications of distributing them.

It is not illegal to distribute home made video content. Would you think someone making a home video and putting it on Youtube is illegal?

My concern has to do with the format, in this case either side by side or top and bottom.
I'm pretty sure RealD has patents on everything to do with side by side formatting. I'm not so sure about top and bottom.
I'm not extremely concerned, just wondering.

I know. Some of them are mine.

Sorry, I guess I should have mentioned that I was referring to selling them. I have been asked if I would sell them and I don't know the legal issues involved if any.

In that case simply ask for donations to continue your work, this way you are not directly selling a product. You can also charge for shipping and handling of course .

You might contact HDMI.org to see if there are any licensing costs involved in selling content formatted in a HDMI 1.4a format.

His content isn't MVC and it would be mpegla for licensing.

From what I have read about mpeg-la, I wouldn't want them to get a penny of mine.
Better to just give it away. (Shipping, handling, expediting excepted of course.)
