Hi, Rob.

My brother was able to change the network settings to connect to perc data and download the settings, but after rebooting, there was no code 1982 for Comcast. Code 0237 also did not work. He is able to connect the Replay 5508 to the internet without a problem.

Any other suggestions?

(He dictated that to me. I don't know how any of this works.)

The folks at Perc Data tell me that they haven't seen any RTV55xx units connect to them to get data, so it doesn't sound like he successfully made the connection. Please have your brother verify that he's using the correct IP address in the DNS1 and DNS2 boxes: 107.20.245.128

Hi, Rob.

My brother said he'll have to try again. It may take a week or two for him to come over again, but I'll let you know. For now, I'm using a VCR to record.

I'm still hopeful though! Thanks for your help!!!

Who is that has the Replay in question? Some of your posts talk about your brother and some talk about your sister, so I am a little confused who is helping who get their Replay working. If you are the one that has the Replay, why don't you follow the steps yourself to make it get the code upgrade?

You don't have to be a techincal wizzard or anything to do this, just follow the very simple step-by-step instructions below:

1. Go to Menu > Setup > Network and Input Settings > Change Network
2. Select 'Change from Automated to Manual'
3. Change the DNS1 and DNS2 IP addresses to 107.20.245.128 and select 'Continue'
4. Once it's done verifying the network, select Keep All Settings
5. Select "Connect to ReplayTV Service Now"

now you should be able to program the Comcast code...
1. Select Menu > Setup > Network and Input Settings > CBL/ANT
2. Select Digital Cable > Other > Comcast > 1982

If you don't see the Comcast code, you can check if you were able to connect to Perc:
1. Select Menu > MyReplayTV Registration - if you have successfully net connected to LaHo you will see it say about registering with LaHo.

hi shopmommindy- if u still need to get ur wmc to control ur dta let me know. mine works fine---dan---ps ive got a few 5500s ill try one on perc data and see if it updates the codes. ive updated 2-4ks and 8-5ks no problem.

Hi Folks,

Thought you would like to know that Mikeyboy's fix also works nicely for the Suddenlink's digital box communicating with a RePlayTV 5400. The Suddenlink's device has a name of DC732 , but appears to really be an RC Cisco DTA30. I installed this firm ware fix and it over wrote the IR codes for device code 0237. As instructed, I had to remove the HDD from the RePlay, install it in the XP computer as Drive01, Secondary hard drive, then run the fix program "InstallDTAcode 0237Files.bat" and answer in the affirmative to all questions. Even though when the program was run and it said it recognized a HDD for a 4000 series Replay it worked on the 5400 series just fine. A bet unsettling is that when you run the software fix you get no feeback that it worked! But it did. Reinstall the HDD in the RePlay and reboot.....which always takes a long time. Then use the cable box code 0237 for the IR blaster.

Does the reboot go faster if you do a COLD REBOOT with the Ethernet cable unplugged? {thinking}

Robman,

Only 6 months later, but what would be required to try the 107.20.245.128 approach? I am at my mom's whose service has just gone through the transition to digital. I have tried other methods but am having difficulties. I saw this post and am starting to get desperate to try anything... I'll document my other woes as well, but this would seem to be a fail safe approach, considering my other attempts have not been successful...

Update: Oh, I found the IP address was changed. I am doing the Net Connect now... Knock on wood.

Update 2: Woo hoo! At least it has loaded a whole bunch of new IR codes I had not seen previously. My mom has a Comcast Cisco DAT30 digital box and under Comcast, 0237 and 0476 had no effect, but 1982 looks like it has promise. I need to do some more testing but my mom is recording Judge Judy at the moment (sigh...) so I'll need to wait until Judge Judy is over. If this works out, looks like I owe Laho a donation!!

That last step should force the Replay to connect to Perc Data which should download the Comcast codes. Then you can select Comcast and code 1982 when you set up your cable box.


When you're done, go back into the menu system like you did before and change the Network back to automatic.


If you find that that doesn't work and you still need to install the codes the old fashioned by, here's what you need to do.


1. Open up the Replay and remove the hard drive.

2. Check the jumper settings, if it's set to Master, change it to Cable Select

3. If you have an IDA-to-USB cable, hook the drive up to your computer that way

4. If you don't, you'll need to open the computer and connect the drive to the second slot on the IDE cable that connects the main hard drive to the computer

5. Download the ComcastDTAir Codeoverwrite0237 50005500.zip file from here, unzip it and run the InstallDTAcode 0237Files.bat file.

6. Power down the computer, disconnect the drive and put it back in the Replay and you're good to go. When you setup the cable box, select "other" then select code 0237.

Found a lot of information on trying to restore my IP addresses and will try all but forgot to tell you I am connected by direct telephone land line not by a computer on my Replay Device? FastJayJay
