Great, finally decided to click the Buy button, but the deal at Best Buy is no longer available. LOL

If you are talking about the HTIB/Glasses deal it is still running, its in their ad today.

Ya, I was referring to that deal - I got home last night around 12.30AM - pleasantly buzzed and ready to buy. I added the entire package on BB's website - and the price was $4099 (or $4059 - can't remember) instead of $3059. This morning it works again, but I'm not drunk anymore So I'm still trying to decide between HX800 and HX909

There are no widgets only Internet Video/Music/Photo

You also get 2 3D movies by mail and 4 PS3 3D games via free download.

2 3D movies - is it when I buy from Sony Style or from Best Buy as well? I don't see any 3D movies mentioned on Best Buy site

It does not matter where you get the TV, you register the TV online to receive the movies.

I finally got a chance to check out the 55hx at my local bb, all in all i thought the set looked amazing couldnt notice any flashlighting at all. I had the remote so I was trying as hard as possible to get the set as bright as possible in all black scenes and still nothing. no clouding, flashlighting or anything bad I can comment on. Didnt get a chance to check out the 3d though =(

So my fiancee and I bought the 55" last Thursday @ Best Buy with their promotional deal. After a few hours with it setup, we noticed a single dead pixel. Took it back the next day, and after examining it they exchanged it for the only other model they had in store. As we were loading it in the car, the only way to get it to fit was with the television laying down flat, with the screen side facing up, as we had done the previous day. The person supervising said they strongly advise against laying down an LCD and blamed the first dead pixel on the fact that we had taken the previous TV home the same way. I told her that it was how the previous employee told us it would be alright to load it, and that we'd take our chances...but I digress.

It has been wall mounted after I examined it for dead pixels, and we love the picture. I am very happy with my choice for a great looking 2D television and since the 3D part was pretty much an added bonus am looking forward to enjoying 3D content. Purchased Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs from Amazon right away before I realized that it will be sent through the mail with our online registration. I had also already downloaded the PS3 3D stuff with the code from the first television, so I've got an extra one of those to eBay or something.

If y'all have any questions I'd be happy to try to answer them. I will also try and get some pictures uploaded.

I finally made the plunge!!!

just to let you guys know, i bought it at sony styles store with the bundle... but instead of the BDVE-570, they replaced it with the BDVE-770W.

it's the rear wireless ones, retail for 100$ more. they didnt have any 570's on hand, so im assuming it was replaced for stock/inventory reasons.

just dont apply the update firmware, read that both the 570 and 770W will lock up.

btw, my first HDTV too

Well if you want 3D you need to do the firmware, in the 3 stores I have been too no store has had issues.

Hi, I just got my HX800 today. Does anyone know how to enable the source input from 480p or 720p to 1080p?
I know SamSung TV has the upscale function.

How's the black levels and the color? Do they change over time at all?

Every time I see this thing in action, it looks beautiful, but only in 3D. I haven't seen it in 2D once. Dammit.

Have you guys tried SD with satelite channels or cable? I´m not getting any good results on that with my Sony HX 800 46", I live in europe, and either with satelite SD channels or with TDT (digital television) I don´t see a nice picture too many pixels on the screen.

Full HD is awesome though, dvd´s good, but I want a decent SD too.....

As I talked about in another thread, my sisters family got a 46 inch HX800.

I have seem some SD material from Direct TV on it. Results are mediocre at best, with lots of pixelization and smearing. It might be possible to improve with some time in the picture adjustments, but I have had no luck so far.

I have seen similar results on my sharp and my parents new samsung c8000 as well.

I'm beginning to think that while they have made strides in HD picture quality, SD quality may no be a priority.

I replaced a 46 inch Samsung 4661 (one of the first 1080p capable sets) with my current set. All of the families recent tv purchases picture quality are substantially improved over that set with the exception of SD shows where the samsung still looks better.

One thought that the experts here might be able to chime in on is if possibly running the direct tv box through one of the new AV receivers and letting it do the up conversion instead might result in better PQ.

BTW: subjectively the 3d on the sony is pretty sweet and noticeably better than the samsung imho.

From my experience with DirecTV, I'd say that they tune their SD compression and picture quality for a 27" TV. The larger the TV, the worse the picture looks.

How do you guys connect PS3 to HX800 to play 3D games? Directly to a TV? Or did you all buy 1.4 HDMI receivers?

Anyone knows? I have checked the i-menu but still can't find anything related to 1080p upscale picture options.

ok thanks for the replies. Just curiosity, how many channels in HD do you have available on DirecTV for example, here in Spain we have 10 more or less.

Anyone experiance any blooming issues as CNET claimed they saw on the 909 model?

so i was messing with this set and idk if it has a 2D-3D conversion feature but i hit the 3D button while watching avatar and it seemed to add a little seperation between objects. Anyway, while watching this "conversion" i noticed in bright areas the screen seemed to flicker like on panasonic plasmas in 48hz mode. Is this conversion supposed to be used and if so, does yours flicker in bright scenes/areas?
