Touch wood as they say....zero problems here & i must say this HX803 absolutely leaves my previous 46W5500 trailing. The W was supposed to have similar native contrast figures, approx 3000:1,but even with the dimming feature off this TV does better blacks, edge definition, colour vibrancy & a vastly superior 2D picture. The custom mode with backlight at 4 or 5 depending, with most processing off,is a treat for bluray,be it 2 or 3D!Its really amazing the jump in PQ on TVs since late 2009 to mid 2010 when the HX model appeared. Not to mention features, even mid 2011 when Sony smart TVs really took hold, more improvements in such a short time.Sad though when 1 of the oldest TV manufacturers sell millions of bravias every year, but still have to endure huge financial losses.Ive being buying Sony TVs since early trinitron models to wega & now bravia.Iknow Pio's last KRP model was a classic along with LX-X090 models, but if Sony go the way of pioneer in ceasing TV manufacturing,i think Panasonic would be my next port-of-call,even though i tried a 46 G10 plasma to send it straight back for my 3rd Sony W TV! The pana had a deplorable off air 2D pic with a slight orange tint which i couldn't get rid of.But with rumours of panasonic building bigger LCD-LED backlit TVs i reckon they are my next choice as their 42" 2010/11 LED backlit TVs are almost identical to Sony's HX800 in design,3cm-7cm profile & general appeal. They have the gloss black frame atop the slim grey strip bezel with the logo in its forever place, mid bottom strip.Bearing in mind Vizio TVs are impossible to audition, never mind purchase, where i'm located,so i cannot include a Vizio TV as an alternative.I know Sony have a new line-up for mid 2012,but i fear another yearly loss would have to hurt,as its not as if they can cut corners as they are an LCD only manufacturer, regardingTVs. I for 1 hope they endure as they proved at CES they are willing to try to be original with the Crystal-LED tech.Maybe it was a marketing ploy as most if not all other CO's were pushing OLED. Good luck Sony as a brilliant TV manufacturer,i reckon in these most competitive times, your going to need it!
