I rarely get this with a kdl32ex402, if i unplug it, plug it back in, and turn it on. It only does it once. It's one month old

With regard to if this has come up before, I don't recall seeing a looping reset upon power on reported anytime previously. Sounds like you are unique with this one. There's been no firmware update for months; current level is 4.107

Being out of warranty, you are looking at a several hundred dollar bill to get her repaired.
Decision time...

Just made 1 more observation , Whatever content is being fed on HDMI 1 , gets displayed(perfect audio/video) during the time the screen was blank in my previous observation .. but after 15 sec , the TV restarts , Sony Logo , and HDMI1 playback and again TV Restarts Loop continues ...

During Playback , Remote keys are not accepted , but the Green Light Blinks..

Dont take this lightly , I think you should call them and get it serviced under warranty ..

akshay_bombay, I have the exact same issue! It just started happening yesterday for me. I tried the same Reset method and that did not help.
I called Tech Support and they said there is nothing they can do to troubleshoot as the TV is completely unresponsive - can't Reset, can't go to any menus, etc.
Tech Support just referred me to repair service centers.
I can't believe just after 1 year this thing is busted. I'm so pissed.
I'm searching the internet for any other people with the same issue. Hopefully there is a solution out there that doesn't involved several hundreds of dollars.

I totally agree ... Whats the probability, that 2 people have exactly the same issue in 3-4 days of each other. I have not got an estimate yet . As soon as i get , i will let you know .If you do it before me , Pls let me know ...

if you bought it with a credit card (M/C-VISA)......check and see if your card extends the warranty to
double the makers warranty. almost all credit cards do that. it is the same insurance coverage you
buy when you purchase the extended warranty at the sellers place most the time.
few people know that.
if you bought it at costco, they give a double warranty to twice the makers one and
if you buy it with their costco charge card the even add a third year...free!
can't beat it. food for thought......

Thanks for the suggestions.

I always buy high end electronics on Amex ... But this time i screwed up... Did not use Amex :-(
FYI . If u buy any TV from Costco (using the Amex or Cash), its 2 years warranty only ( 1st year manufacturer , 2nd Year Costco) .. Amex does not consider Costco warranty as a Manufacturer's.

I did not buy it with an AMEX either. But that is a good tip for future reference. I just want to complain to Sony now because of the fact that this issue occurred literally less than 1 month over the 1 yr warranty. If they have any sense of customer service, they should extend servicing the repair as a courtesy. Esp when all the service repair centers recommended by Sony around my area are HORRIBLE - slow, rude, don't know what they are doing. (off topic)Why is there not a quality control from Manufacturers for the service centers that they authorize?

Yeah, what kind of luck is that, right? I just tried calling now to get an estimate from the service centers that Sony recommended around my area and basically it is $175 diagnosis fee just to take a look and the $175 can go towards the repair cost if I agree to the repair. They won't let me talk to a technician to see what part may be the issue so I can't know for sure what the cost could be.

I found some posts from people with similar issues for other model SONY LCD's and they said the issue could be due to the power supply ($150 new) or main board ($350 new). If there was a way I could troubleshoot the issue myself and know which part to buy and find some tutorial online that teaches you how replace the part, I would just fix it myself. lol. Anyone know how to troubleshoot a 55 Sony LCD tv?

So if its the main board, the repair could be around $500+ that's including the diagnosis fee. And I'm sure the repair center will tack on a premium to the part so it looks like $600 all said and done. I might as well just get a 50 inch brand new Westinghouse or Vizio, you know?

akshay_bombay, any luck on your end getting this to be covered by Sony under warranty? How can we complain so they will want to cover it?

Thanks for the update.
Is your technician going to let you purchase the part yourself and install it for you for a charge?

Sony's Service Parts Professional site has this part priced at $295 which in fine prints says : *This price includes a refundable per unit core charge of $117.50. If you return the faulty part within 60 days you will receive a $117.50 credit per unit returned.
So it looks like you pay $295+117.50 up front and then get credited $117.50 when you return the faulty part.
https://www.servicesplus.sel.sony.co...A1778906A.aspx

This site has it available, new for $132.

I think $295 includes 117.50 , so it looks like the cost to the authorized repair agent would be $295-117.50 if he takes my part.

So I guess there is no option except bringing it into a service repair center and getting jacked huh? I can't believe it is just 1 month out of warranty. Is there anything we can say to Sony?

Looking to schedule the repair with the service center this week. Have you repaired your tv yet? Just wondering if it was in fact the main board. Thanks.

Touch wood as they say....zero problems here & i must say this HX803 absolutely leaves my previous 46W5500 trailing. The W was supposed to have similar native contrast figures, approx 3000:1,but even with the dimming feature off this TV does better blacks, edge definition, colour vibrancy & a vastly superior 2D picture. The custom mode with backlight at 4 or 5 depending, with most processing off,is a treat for bluray,be it 2 or 3D!Its really amazing the jump in PQ on TVs since late 2009 to mid 2010 when the HX model appeared. Not to mention features, even mid 2011 when Sony smart TVs really took hold, more improvements in such a short time.Sad though when 1 of the oldest TV manufacturers sell millions of bravias every year, but still have to endure huge financial losses.Ive being buying Sony TVs since early trinitron models to wega & now bravia.Iknow Pio's last KRP model was a classic along with LX-X090 models, but if Sony go the way of pioneer in ceasing TV manufacturing,i think Panasonic would be my next port-of-call,even though i tried a 46 G10 plasma to send it straight back for my 3rd Sony W TV! The pana had a deplorable off air 2D pic with a slight orange tint which i couldn't get rid of.But with rumours of panasonic building bigger LCD-LED backlit TVs i reckon they are my next choice as their 42" 2010/11 LED backlit TVs are almost identical to Sony's HX800 in design,3cm-7cm profile & general appeal. They have the gloss black frame atop the slim grey strip bezel with the logo in its forever place, mid bottom strip.Bearing in mind Vizio TVs are impossible to audition, never mind purchase, where i'm located,so i cannot include a Vizio TV as an alternative.I know Sony have a new line-up for mid 2012,but i fear another yearly loss would have to hurt,as its not as if they can cut corners as they are an LCD only manufacturer, regardingTVs. I for 1 hope they endure as they proved at CES they are willing to try to be original with the Crystal-LED tech.Maybe it was a marketing ploy as most if not all other CO's were pushing OLED. Good luck Sony as a brilliant TV manufacturer,i reckon in these most competitive times, your going to need it!

Crystal LED will be a sight to behold. I figure by the time it is economically feasible for the masses, a 65 or 70" Crystal will be the way to go and the old HX800 will have served out its useful purpose and relegated to a spare bedroom or a friend. Until then, the HX's in my house are kicking serious butt and taking real names. Ran through Motorstorm this weekend after a long break and we are still completely blown away with 3D gaming. Not to imply that 2D gaming is a slouch either...

Love my HX's !

Yea,hope so.TBH 2012s hx models dont really demonstrate a forward step, more of a holdover sidestep. But the hx850 looks decent enough even though the hx920 will fly the flag in the meantime. The hx750,looks nice & will be the more affordable obviously.Ive only heard of 1 more new model ,the ex640.This year represents the smallest line-up of Sony TVs,i dont know what they think of OLED .As you've said hopefully our next TV will be a crystal -LED model. The folks at CES said the crystal -LED panel made the hx929 look old,(whaa) as both panels were on display mode, next to eachother as you prob.know.Imagine what this thing is capable of in cinematic mode, not to mention gaming. Imagine the plans they have in the looks dept.Have to stop now as im starting to drool, excuse the sight..

Hey everyone, I FINALLY got the 3D transmitter and glasses for the 55HX800 and when I put the TV in 3D mode, the TV makes a pretty loud buzzing noise. It sounds like the buzz from a plasma but louder. Is this normal? I am desperately close to the end of my warranty so any info you can give me would be great.

Thanks

I don't watch a lot of 3D on my 55HX800 but I can tell you its never made a buzzing sound no matter the source material.

as a follow up, I was messing with the 3D again last night...the buzz isnt THAT loud, but it seems to get louder the longer I have it in 3D mode. I found a thread where a couple of other owners said that their HX800 made a mild buzz in 3D mode. You guys are saying that is not the case with yours...I dont know what to think. Sony is telling me that I have to pay to have the TV looked at by an authorized tech and then they MIGHT repair it.

Anyone else happen to listen to their TV and see if they get a faint buzz when it is in 3D mode?

I get a sound that goes away when the TV goes from 3D to 2D. I would consider it more like a slight hum. It's only noticeable if the audio is muted.

That is how i would describe mine as well. It isnt loud, but it is audible. I find it weird that some people have this and others don't.
