Here is a link to the owners thread for the 3313ci. jd and others have done a pretty thorough preview and anlysis of the features there http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...ghlight=matrix

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Ok. I recently lost a Denon 2310CI because I was screwing around trying to get a goddamn HDMI splitter form monoprice to actually work. Can anyone give me a reason NOT to buy one of the cheap Onkyos? Or would Yamaha/Pioneer be considered good? I've seen widely varying reviews on this stuff lately. It seems like not even Denon has good quality control, considering some mentions I've seen of flaky HDMI on the 3312CI. I thought about getting a refurb 3312CI, but now I'm not sure that's even worth it.

It's a way broader question just asking about cheap receivers. We're more interested in the "2 HDMI OUT" aspect in this thread. Here is a link to the results of a "good cheap receiver" thread search on AVSforum

and I need 2 HDMI outputs, which is why I asked in here. I'm only asking for opinions based on the list at the beginning of the topic.

I don't trust ONKYO after my experience with the HDMI board failing on my 606, alot of others had the same experience. There are links to reviews and to the owners threads in the table in the first post if that helps. I'm happy with Yamaha RX V867 that I settled on.

Most of the cheaper ones don't have reviews or owner threads. Nothing seems to have good quality control anymore. Everything gets made with the same cheap asian parts that fail. Also, why the hell is that Pioneer VSX-9140THX on the list 3 times with no info? I can't even find that model on google/amazon.

You can find most of the ones with a list price below $1,000 or so for much less online. My RX V867 lists for $899 and I paid a fraction of that for it and it' seems like a pretty solid piece of kit.

This is proving to be a very frustrating search for me. I need to keep the budget down on my project (screen + projector with 3D). My Onkyo 707 doesn't do 3D so I need to upgrade. I was going to go with an Onkyo 709 but it seems QC may be an issue. I have found the RX V867 at a decent price but my Dad's experience with Yamaha has been less than stellar. I have also found a VSX-33 at a reasonable price, but I'm worried about issues between that unit and my Samsung TV.

I'm honestly getting tempted to give up on the 2 HDMI outs and get a good unit + an HDMI switch... but that also brings possible issues.
*sigh*

Yes it is, and it's an important one too.

Right now I'm think I'm down to the VSX-33 which I can get used for $430 and a used (or refurbished) TX-NR709 which will cost me $500. I've had Pioneer in the past (VSX-1014TX) and right now I'm using the Onkyo 707 which has been great. One thing I really like about my 707 is Audyssey. It did such a great job with my room compared to the MCACC on the Pioneer.

My recent subjective experience with Onkyo and Yamaha is this. I had an Onkyo 606 which had great power. I have an old Velodyne Front Row surround setup and they are not small by Home theater standards (surrounds weigh almost 8 lbs) . The Onkyo drove them well but the dreaded Onkyo HDMI board failure got me right after the end of warranty. As an interim solution while I saved for a 2 HDMI out receiver I bought an Onkyo 303. A little underpowered but still up to the task. Then I got the Yamaha RX-V867. Sound Stage is good, seems to have a little less grunt than the Onkyos though. HDMI switching and routing is flawless though. Am not able to crank up the system lately anyway so accuracy trumps efficiency in my current situation anyway. Happy with the RX-V867.

Several mfr's offer a second Zone HDMI out to include Denon (3313CI, 4520CI), Pioneer (SC-67/68), and Onkyo (3010/5010) at a minimum.

My 3313 has 3 outputs, 2 on Zone 1, and 1 for Zone 2. It's pretty slick, works quite well.
