The Foster family theater construction

I started a thread for my build a few months back. But a week or so ago I decided to organize all my photobucket photos, big mistake! Since I moved the files around the links hosted no longer worked.... so here goes take two!

I appologize to those of you who have already seen these, but I wanted to keep my thread going as my space changes.

The basement is around 950 sq. ft finished. There is a gym area that isn't finished, and a storage area.

I still have some small things to do. It's summer time , so it's hard to spend time in the basement working. I'm waiting for a rainy to finish painting the bathroom, touch up paint in the rest of the basement , organize the gym area, and touch up the screen border. I need to set up the speakers for the gym area too. More pictures to follow shortly.

Beautiful work, MJ. I'm curious though, why the riser? Are you going to have another row of seating in front of the existing couch? How long was this from start to current state?

Looks great (still)! And with the "new" thread one can sure skim through it quickly - hardly any pesky commentary to slow us down!

I'm curious about your equipment closet/rack details, as I'm about to tackle that part myself. Do you have any more photos/details on how you built that?

We did the riser because we plan on getting a second row of theater chairs. I'm really itching to get those sooner than later, but I need to convince the wife. We still need bar stools for the bar height halt wall. We may even do a bar height counter behind the couch on the riser.

The build started in early Feburary. And I want to say the whole thing was wrapped up by late april. There were a few hang ups with bad weather. I'll have to put the pictures up. We had like three snow storms of like 20 plus inches each in a matter of weeks. So there was some down time. Thanks for looking

Yeah I have some pictures of the equipment rack. Looking back I would have done it a little differently. I think I would have made the back of the closet open up from behind, so I could make or change wire connections more easily. As it is now, it's a pain to disconect things. I'll get those pictures up of the rack as soon as I get a chance.

Sorry about the lack of commentary. I was so bummed when I realized organizing everything screwed up all the links. But like you said it's easy to get through it fast.

What color is that paint? Trying to find a paint for my basement.

How big is that screen?

The paint is Aloof, by Vlspar. It's a light tan, I couldn't be more happy with the color. And I highly recomend Valspar paint, I love how the paint goes on. And the screen is 100 inches... I love being able to say that.

Thanks. I'm looking at similair colors.

I've been debating on going over 100". It may be a little big for the room but going 96" just seems like a waste. Lol. Being able to say 100" is worth it.

How wide is the front of your room?

Wow, that looks very nice, similar to what I've been wanting/working on since November. We just finally painted last weekend, so I'm a little jealous of your progress. My area is open to a window and patio door, so I'm not going with the projector/screen, just a dlp tv. I like you're trim/wainscoting, I was thinking about doing something similar. But now that our basement is almost finished, we're actually probably going to be selling within the year and starting over...

Anyway, your wetbar is the same idea I was going to do, I have plumbing roughed in and space to do about 6' of cabinets, etc. Did you consider putting laminate or ceramic or anything in front of your bar?
I was thinking about doing about 2 feet worth in front of ours. But since we're not going to be staying here long, I might change my mind and just carpet the whole thing to keep things simple (we may not actually put the bar in now anyway).
