Not sure where some folks are getting 2day's news as a sign of no TM support: wha?!? We're totally supporting game post launch with balance

tweaking, tuning, and bug crunching. But I've been saying for a YEAR there was no DLC planned. But the team- me included- is still cranking

on TM post launch. We're amazingly proud of this game and love the response to the demo. These are 2 different issues. THX!

Also said they're looking into issuing a patch for the demo and leaving the Demo servers up a bit longer. Said they haven't seen issues in full game which is running on diff servers.

I played the demo & driving the cars reminded me of saints row 2 , not that realistic

You press the button & the car goes fast right away

Yup, but what do you expect about a game with car to car missiles, napalm and fire chainsaws?

It's all about a little bit of physics, but mostly over the top arcade speed. No manual transmission, and turbo will get you to top speed in less than 1 second, which means you can avoid missiles if you're skilled enough.

I like how the cars drive in GTA 4 , a bit slippery but more realistic

this is twisted metal.... they tried "more realistic physics" with TM3... and it was a ginormous failure

And there's nothing realistic about GTA. Floaty arcade would be a good word to describe it.

GTA felt like you were controlling a golf cart no matter the vehicle or speed.

any good pre-order deals? I saw amazon's, but I'm not really interested in TM black and the axel DLC doesn't do anything for me either as I never liked using him.

I was hoping to get the game for $50 or less, but I don't see any discounts on it.
Tyrant - downloaded it the other night. Attempted to play today and got the "content has expired" note. Excellent! So here is my question. I don't have time for all the MP crap, but if one wanted to say create a friends only room just to have fun in, will it be possible in the final draft from what you are reading?

Yup, you can have password protected unranked game.

No XP is awarded, so you can't unlock some things; but I believe everything online can be unlocked through completing SP to 100%

Great! At this point in my life I could care less about the XP. I just want to spend some quality time with some online friends. Looks like I'm off to amazon to place the pre-order.
i haven't had this much fun with a demo in a long, long time. I think I'm going to breakdown and buy it right away too.
Definitely be the max fun with friends. And of course, I consider you all here friends!

Too bad there aren't more training videos out before release. They are doing a good job at summarizing the deep game play options.

I debated for days before finally placing my order today.... anyone play it yet? I saw reports of freezing issues on the phat units.

I actually had it pre-ordered on Amazon and cancelled the order. I got concerned by the almost total lack of reviews online. Always makes me suspicious when a dev. won't provide advance review copies to gaming review sites.

So many things wrong with your reply.

1. How do you know review copies were not sent out? How are there reviews at all pre-release?.
2. Publishers set embargos, which are very typical.
3. Devs do not decide anything.

7 reviews on metacritic so far. Average of 76 with a range from 90 down to 60

Thanks for the condescending reply. I think you knew exactly what I meant, but I'll respond anyway.

1. I don't. Um... devs (or publishers ) often send out advance copies to game review sites so hopefully a good review will drum up interest in the game.
2. See one.
3. You are partly correct. Of course if a dev. has handed off a game to a publisher, it would be the publisher who decides. But, again, you knew what I meant.

My entire point was when a game is really good, and the producer (or dev. or publisher) knows it, they are often very eager to get advance review copies out there to spread the word. When this does not happen, it makes me a little suspicious about the quality of the game.

They did and the embargo lifted yesterday. The servers didn't go live until yesterday also, which was really the point of the embargo. Jaffe himself has no control over that, it's Sony, and he himself has been asking review sites to hold off until they get the day 1 patch at the very least (if not wait to comprehensibly review MP).

I'm seeing A LOT of 8.5's and a few 7's. Chief concern over all of them? A short, small SP that deserves to dock the product by 2-3 points, while praising the MP which is the core game.

It's really, really getting sad. Not that 7/10 is bad, but how consistently "journalists" are undercutting very good games because the publisher doesn't spend millions of ad revenue to buy off a favorable review.

GTA4 got 10's for having a Deep SP, but MP that was a bug ridden afterthought. COD and BF got 10's with really, really piss poor, short SP stints that really aren't their core offering. Yet if you don't payola up, -2 to -3 for you. Sad, but thats the truth.

Look, I don't expect this to be a 10/10 game with it's budget, or play style. But it also released one of the most polished and fun Demo's/Beta's of any game this generation. I'd also point out that almost every time I see a review out a week before release, it's a **** sucking adventure followed by the site plastering ads for the same game on release day. I'm no mathematician, but even i can put 2 and 2 together.

Not always. Sometimes. A lot of really, really hyped games keep embargoes until day 1 too.

Demons Souls is a current gen game that is the polar opposite example. There was just an interview with SCEJ about how they cut their losses, and how it ended up costing them a ton of profits because they couldn;t see the value in their investment.

Someone already lit up sweettooth and they took a break to put him out, LOL! Pretty cool viral marketing idea on sonys part.

Games are always sent out early for reviews, then number of times that doesn't happen can be counted on one hand. I think what you mean is early reviews, not the actually discs. You sometimes see arrangements where IGN or someone gets an exclusive early review, while everyone waits for the embargo. A lack of early exclusive reviews is no indication of quality, many of the highest rated games didn't have them while some less than stellar games had them (Resistance 2).

Anyhow the embargo is up, the reviews are out.

Goldclap! IGN actually waited and did a through review this time.

I haven't had time to get into MP yet, but I did browse the menus.

Real clan support is in, although I'm not sure if there's a clan matchmaking service. You have options to invite, manage, and I think leaders can message members too. Up to 32 clan members.

The MP control is very slick and nice. It's like BF3 in that you press select to bring up a new window, but it's much more comprehensive.

There's separate tabs for clans and for PSN party. It shows you who's online, and it seems to remember your last party and gives you people you met in the last game too. Looks like party chat is there.

Rooms also have full blow BF3/KZ2 server lists. Just about every option can be toggled in unranked, private games and it can be PW protected. I'm assuming you can pull parties to unranked games, but am unsure if side balancing breaks you up.

Looks really, really good from a team game MP perspective. Pretty much everything they gutted in KZ3 is there and more.

Split screen, dual PSN sign is is also there. You and a friend can play together and keep your persistence going on the same machine.

Bravo!

Kinda bummed that my copy still hasn't shipped from Amazon. I thought when you pre-order you get free release date delivery? My order says "shipping soon" still!

You gotta pick it as an option.

It's ok, there's some server hiccups it seems and my guess is it'll take a few days to iron out. The SP apparently isn't anything to write home about, but that's true of the last TM's too.

I'm pretty amazed at the online MP. Lots and lots of stats, and even a "player skill stat" that looks to be a badge of honor. Server options are very, very nice. This one is definitely deep if you want to get into competitive online.
