Panasonic 42" G25 -- dead pixel... how common are these on pannys?

I game 3 feet away from it... and I wish I didn't see it but I have 30 days to exchange it at Futureshop. How common are dead pixels on 1080P panasonics? The set is fabulous otherwise. Black levels are almost as good as my dad's Pro-110, and the floating blacks are so hard to notice that I really don't care. But still, I paid a lot for this tv and I expect to have it for a long time. This is my main TV. How many of you guys (and girls?) have had panasonics with a dead pixel or two? If any of the calibrators who see a lot of sets would like to comment that would be great because it would be easier to decide if I knew that the odds were in or against my favor of getting a set with all pixels firing.

Dead or stuck pixels are rare, but can occur with every brand. Normally it wouldn't be an issue or visible from a normal viewing distance but since you're abnormally close to the screen then i'd have it exchanged, and hope the replacement is pixel-perfect.

Have you ever gone through an exchange for this? That is good to hear that it is rare, though, and makes me a bit more confident in returning it. It is only one blue subpixel that is dead, i.e. off, not even stuck on. Would you exchange it?

How was the set transported from the store to home?

Exchange it.

I would exchange it also. Most stores don't ask why you are exchanging it. But be careful what you tell them if you do. Most MFG's say a dead or stuck pixel is with in there MFG Specs and will not honor the exchange.

When I was buying my final set recently after exchanging four times at two different retailers, the salesman was adamant that I have no dead pixels at all on my set. This was at hhgregg

I noticed a stuck one & a dead one on my 50G20 when I had a white slide on it a while back. I sit 8' away & have never been able to see them. If you can see them while using the set then I'd say exchange it. My old 50G10 had one stuck one so I think its more common than some may think.

As for me I said Pffft & am just enjoying the set. I'm past any return period now anyways. If it bothers you too much you should exchange it but to me it's such a minor issue in the big picture, no pun intended.
