Title says it all. I've been waiting for this from Amazon. Enjoy
post #2 of 159
Misleading title since at least 3 other online retailers have it listed for sale.

Some folks, like me feel more comfortable purchase from a well known marketplace like amazon. Sorry I left you feeling bewildered.

Feeling more comfortable is fine, but you were spreading incorrect info.

You didn't even include a link in your OP.

I use Amazon because the shipping is sooooooo much cheaper. Second day is free and next day is $3.98 per item. The other three sellers want $50 for next day shipping. I find the post title accurate.
To avoid ambiguity, perhaps the thread title should be changed to "Mistubishi 3DA-1 adapter available as a stand-alone item from Amazon ($99 shipped)."

I got free shipping from vanns.com. the title needs to be changed. Moderator?

It's old news anyway, see this thread

Auger,

You received free second day shipping from Vann's?????

The Ambiguity in the thread is the location of the word "only". Perhaps it should say "stand alone adapter" and get rid of the word only like suggested above. I agree that at least 3 other retailers listed the item on their site before Amazon.

No Vann's is just free shipping over X dallor, not free 2 day shipping.

Topic title changed.

A note to all: Next time, send me a PM or use the Report Post button. It's much more efficient than just posting in a topic that something needs to be done.

Sorry. I seem to have lumped all my sentences together.

I got free ground shipping from vanns. I am only 2 days away from them, so no need for an expedited delivery.

so this is still a preorder. Has anyone seen any review yet?

Here is a question for someone smarter:

Why the adapter is needed at all? Why for example the ps3 or BR players cant do the conversion?

No they can not convert to checkerboard. (Panasonic 300/350 3D player it the only exception).

I understand they can not, but is this just a matter of a software? For example, could Sony release an update so the PS3 would convert to checkerboard and render our $100 converter obsolete?

Anything is possible but not probable. To date sony has shown zero interest in supporting checkerboard. Also this would not address 3D TV which has a format that is not compatible with DLP checkerboard without an adapter.

no bcause then you have other sources like directv and dish network and cable tv. and possible other sources.

so the magic converter will be able to make ANY 3D source work on the DLP? OTA, BR, Cable, PC?

It's not magic, it's electronic. But the DLP is done with mirrors

It converts the HDMI 1.4 specified formats to the Mits native checkerboard, yes.
well, since PS3 does not have HDMI 1.4, how is that supposed to work?

It doesn't need a 1.4 HDMI TX chip. It uses the Cell BE instead of an SoC. It is software based and not hardware based as all other SAL BD players are.

1.3 and 1.4 have the same bandwidth/speed =-10.2Gbps.

thanks for all the info! Now we need to have a deal for $150 for the converter + 2 pair of glasses.

Slightly off topic, when I e-mailed abt to cancel my adapter pre-order (I have it ordered with Amazon prime instead) the supervisor told me they were shipping later this week.

Not sure if it was just to keep my order or maybe new info...

i hope its right. good news. if so thanks for the imfo.

Later this week is only 2 days. I sure hope that's true. They must have really been concerned they couldn't getit out in the time they originally stated and revised the release date with a lot of extra time to be safe.

Is that just the converter or the kit?

Abt.com had informed me that they are expecting the adapter to be in stock at the end of june, I hope to get the adapter soon and test the xpand102 with it.
4electronicwarehouse stated originally that the Adapter only was supposed to ship at the end of June. It was a couple of weeks ago that they received the update from Mitsubishi that the ship date was changed to the end of July, not the end of June. Let's hope ABT is working with new information, not old.

I saw a posting a few days ago from a person that worked for a Mits dealer saying they had received their first shipment of the adapter (perhaps it might have only been one unit for use by the dealer for their demo system as the person making the post didn't say how many units they had received). Also at the CEA show the end of last week Mits described the adapter as now available. So I do believe the adapters should be available any day now from Mits dealers with the 3D starter pack about a month from now.

Thirdshifter,

I just noticed that ABT has already lowered the price a little. Did they give you a shipping update yet????

They still list the ETA of late June, which we all know has come and gone.

Just talked to abt.com , They are now in the "we don't know" camp on what is the ETA of the mitsubishi adapter. The rep did say they will update their website as soon as more information is available.

I have read in other boards, where there are some customers of abt.com that was told they are getting the adapter shipped on july 9th.
